VETERINARY SURGEON VACANCY-PERMANENT (Would also consider Locum cover)

Calling all lovers of the Cumbrian Lakes and Fells…
Ever considered making your favourite holiday destination your home?
Birthplace of Peter Rabbit and home to Alfred Wainwright’s favourite fells, could there be a better place to experience that 3am prolapse on a nutter suckler, than nestled under Blencathra in the lakes? We think not!
Yes, it may rain a lot, but someone needs to keep Flexothane in business!
Rowcliffe House Vets is a 6-vet independent mixed practice based in the market town of Penrith in Cumbria, just off junction 40 of the M6, with excellent transport links. This is a unique mixed position: 90% farm animal (with a good mix of dairy, beef, and sheep), 10% small animal, with minimal equine work. A 4-day working week as standard, with a 4-day long weekend off every 5 weeks. 7 weeks holiday, company car, pension and generous CPD budget. Equal share of the OOH rota.
If we’ve caught your attention, then give us a ring to discuss your next adventure. Call Lynette on 07703604892 or email your CV to [email protected].

Housing measures to protect poultry and captive birds from avian influenza are coming into force across the UK at one minute past midnight (00:01) on 29 November 2021.

This means that, from this time, it will be a legal requirement for all bird keepers across the UK to keep their birds indoors, or where this is not practical, to take steps to separate them from wild birds.

Keeping your birds undercover away from wild birds is vital to minimise the risk of them becoming infected with avian influenza by wild birds. But housing alone is not the only solution – it remains essential that you follow strict biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of disease spreading to your birds.
