The power of choice for our dogs is crucial in their development and learning.
This also applies to the rewards we use.
It doesn't just have to be food although the little clip will show food. When we are rewarding our dogs access to the things they love makes great rewards this might be access to toys it might be something in the environment it may even be fuss. It's important to learn what this is for your dog.
In the video I have used 2 rewards I know for miss M that food is gooood but toys not so much. I have chosen a little high meat content treat and a kangaroo air dried treat.
I was shocked at her choice.
The kangaroo lost 2 out 3 goes.
If I was looking over more food rewards the winner would stay on and I would start over again.
Once you dog has chosen let them eat the reward and reset by chucking the one they didn't want away before starting again when they come back.
