I made it 🐾

It seemed like a trillion steps across beautiful Cornwall, full of sunshine and lots of new things to see, hear and smell 🤩. I had sausage rolls for lunch and lots of yummy treats. Lots and lots of lovely people were kind to me especially my new friend Mel 🤩

I am home now, I might have been a teeny bit quiet yesterday - I didn't chew my usual 6 pairs of socks, but I am full of beans today 🙃 My human, Tamsin, only has 2 feet (which seems like a design fault to me) and she has blisters. However she loved the walk as much as me and said I was a superstar 🌟

Our trek made £645 for Cornwall Hospice Care and my human says that her mum, Eileen, would be very proud of me 🥰

Bryher 🐾

As some of you will know, Tamsin is my lovely wife. This is such an important cause and my little puppy, Bryher, will be undertaking the challenge! If you feel that you could sponsor Bryher that would be amazing.

"Hello, I am Bryher and in just over I month I will have a very important role in celebrating Eileen Carter's life and collecting funds for Cornwall Hospice Care. If you feel that you could sponsor me on my trek it would make me wag my tail lots. I am going to be taking my human - Tamsin - with me, and I'll let her tell you the story about her Mum, who brought us together..."

"Some of you will have known Eileen Carter. She was my lovely, wonderful Mum - we all miss her so very much. A formidable campaigner for Cornish culture and identity, she was fascinated with the stories about Cornwall's patron saint - after whom Perranporth is named.

So, Mum decided to get St. Piran's Oratory (the lost church) uncovered and began a campaign. Her persistent efforts paid off and eventually it was unearthed in 2014. Mum became a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh and wrote a book: "In the Shadow of St Piran."

While all this was going on Mum was diagnosed with cancer which she lived with for 14 years. I will always be in awe of the staff at Mt Edgcumbe Hospice, it is the most incredible place. I remember days of never-ending compassion, kindness, help, support for all our family, and laughter. I really felt like I was visiting Mum and my friends, and over Mum's last couple of months it felt like sunshine had filtered back into our lives.

Mum and I used to while away many hours dreaming about our next dog - and she always said that I would give in and have a tri-coloured Tibetan Terrier. I lost my beautiful old dog Puffle just after mum died and I decided to look for a puppy. The first tri-Tibetan girl popped up on my phone and she happened to share the same birthday as my mum. It had to be. We called her Bryher after mum’s favourite place. Mum said that she would come back as a dog, and my husband said that he wasn’t getting changed in front of Bryher ‘just in case’ – it did make us laugh!

Our lovely little dogs, Poppet and Rags and Puffle used to come with me to the hospice and brought real comfort to Mum, and a smile to the staff.
Now it is Bryher's turn to help celebrate Mum's life by trekking the Saints' Way to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care.

2022 was a very difficult year as I lost my lovely mum and dad (Eileen and Dennis), my beautiful friend Hayley and then our dear dog Puffle. They filled my world with love and happiness and this walk is to celebrate their lives as they are always with me in the happiest memories.

GorPets dog coat, size 10 inches and fleecy lined. It's a great waterproof coat with a little collar. Our puppy has grown so fast that we have now bought one a couple of sizes bigger!

I enable my dogs to say 'yes' or 'no' by not using any restraints.
If they say 'no', they simply get down off the table and we have a break

Why I won't use restraints in my salon.
This is Todd. He's been coming to me for a while now.
He really doesn't like being groomed, but as a Poodle X, he has quite a difficult coat, mixed with his love of the beach and water it makes it difficult for his owners.
With patience and kindness and lots of silly cuddles, Todd and I are building the trust he deserves.
Appointments may take a little longer, but can you imagine how anxious he would get if he was tied up around his neck and belly, unable to get down off the table.
Todd has learnt that he has nothing to fear.
If he wants a break, he tells me by lying down and we stop and have a cuddle.
The table is low and he can get down anytime he wants, but he doesn't anymore and it's so rewarding to see him making progress, no matter how small.

This is Buddy, the delightful and very handsome Samoyed.
He came in needing a lot of his undercoat removed.
As we approach that time of the year when double coated breeds shed their undercoat, sometimes they require some help.
Buddy's undercoat had impacted and tangled into his topcoat causing matting.
But he was such a good boy and after a bath and blow dry and two hours of brushing and filling half a bin with his undercoat, he ran around the garden obviously feeling very happy.
