Big Dog Miniatures is a high quality painting, conversion and modelling service for all sci-fi and fantasy miniatures. I have over 25 years experience in the wargaming hobby, starting initially with Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer 40K and Blood Bowl. During this period I have developed my painting and modelling skills and taken part in several Warhammer and Warhammer 40K tournaments. My armies

at these events always featured a number of conversions and scored top tournament points for my painting. Since my initial attempts at miniature painting, real life appears to have caught up with me at last and I now find that being a married man with two very active kids and a full time job working shifts means that I no longer get the opportunities to play that I did in my youth. However, I do still enjoy painting and modelling miniatures look for new opportunities to push my abilities. I have decided to use the skills I have developed over the years to offer commission miniature painting services

Whilst I am actively looking to take on commissions, please be aware that I am not an army painter. Grinding out massed ranks of quickly painted, identical troops is not my forte. However, if you are looking for an outstanding centrepiece for your collection whether it be an inspiring hero, elite unit, war engine or monstrous creature for your army then feel free to get in touch. Had very little hobby time lately but have managed to fo a very rough colour test for my Marines Malevolent project. I've only base coated and shaded the main sections so far but I think it'll work fine once its highlighted and detailed.

I've been tinkering with a new 40K army project behind the scenes with a true scale Marines Malevolent army.

Converted, built and primed a full tactical squad, a half tactical squad and a chaplain (with magnetised jump pack) so far. Most of these were built using cannibalised primaris marines I have used for other things.

I'm experimenting with printing my own decals for the chapter and squad markings.

Given that we're all in lockdown and my renewed interest in Blood Bowl, I decided to build a Blood Bowl Sevens pitch to introduce the kids to the game.

So far I've plotted out the pitch on a spare piece of MDF using 32mm squares to match the 2016 Blood Bowl pitch.

I then cut some cork floor tiles into 32mm squares and trimmed them to resemble worn flagstones (all 220 of them) and glued them into place on the board. I ripped some in half and tore the corners off some to make them look like they'd cracked.

Here's the progress pics so far.

Next I need to find a way to fill the gaps between the tiles. I'll post more updates as I go.

Local Warhammer store is starting a new painting challenge today. The subject is the Games Workshop Necromancer mini (GW stock photo pictured here) which I've had in my Pile of Shame for a wee while.

Rules are that only 3 colours can be used to paint each section of the robes and weathering is to be applied.

Any suggestions for colour scheme?
