We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our clients, land owners, gamekeepers & of course our sponsors, Dog & Field, for all your support this year, & also Deborah & the ladies at Ruby Cooper's Coffee House.
Its been a roller coaster year, officially retiring from the job, saying goodbye to my dad who sadly passed away on Christmas Eve, losing our training ground of two years, losing two young dogs Posy & Violet, one being this years novice dog & another in the pipeline for the next year or two, then waiting what seemed like an eternity to secure a long term lease with Abbots Ripton Estate at our new and permanent training ground at Ramsey. Then by fate Frank was returned to us and will trial in January, in readiness for next season.
Since then we have gotten bigger and better with 1:2:1, group & workshops filling up nicely. Puppy classes reintroduced as everyone seems to have a puppy at the moment!
The Ground Hire has been a real success, not just because of the type of cover and ground available, or the obstacles, jumps, lake & river, nor the birds that have wandered over due to the feeders being full, but because its as real as you can get, its not manicured, its tidy, but if you train in what you expect to work in there is an element of reality.
Clients like the training paddock, then being able to progress onto the cover crops, hedgerows & finally putting it all together in the training pen.
More planned for next year, we have a new shoot that is hosting two walked up spaniel training days in January, hoping to offer a few days on rabbits, we look to expand into fortnightly Saturday working, weekend ground hire & training pen hire, some new kennels for our residential dogs, a shop/meeting point stocking Skinners and Dog & Field, onsite toilet, J Regs Seminar, BVA Eye Test clinic, Dog First Aid, our Working Test, hoping to be able to offer some Racomitrium Gundogs merchandise, & an Open Day, Retriever Workshops will continue to be taken by Craig Horwill, a second training pen (both will be reseeded come spring, with grasses, and some cover crops so as it can be used all year), plus some more jumps and pens, another 5 acres which will laid to grass of differing varieties. Although still in date with two CRB checks, I will be applying for another and look at holding a Young Handler Workshop to continue to encourage newcomers to the sport and our next generation, which now more than ever is at real risk.
Plus a litter of springer puppies due in January! β€οΈ
Hopefully able to offer Frank at stud! π€
So if you want to find out more about us and are interested in anything we offer, please reach out.
I will continue to offer a professional service, with constructive, positive feedback & encourage newcomers into the addictive world of gundogs!
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you all, I hope you have a lovely peaceful festive period and if you're on Santa's good list get what you wished for........I know I'm not getting mine, trees not up just so Jo can make sure he doesn't leave a cocker under it! ππ€«
Hope to see some young, old and new faces back in 2026! β€οΈ
