Please see the new out-of-hours process that will come effect 17th April 2023 ⏬

🐾 Your pet will arrive with Vets Now via pet ambulance provided by the wonderful team at Best Friends Group.
🐾 Our duty veterinary surgeon will have had a call from the transferring vet and know all about your pet’s needs.
🐾 The duty veterinary surgeon will then perform a full clinical assessment to ensure nothing has changed and start to form a plan for treatment overnight.
🐾 The duty vet will then call you (we endeavour to call you at the earliest convenience; however, we are an emergency service and occasionally we need to prioritise patient care) and discuss the options for treatment and discuss any costs with you.
🐾 You will then be transferred to one of our reception team to discuss any insurance, send you any paperwork for completion and take payments or deposits.
🐾 Your pet will be comfortably settled in a bed and any treatments, investigations and observations will be performed.
🐾 Your pet will be lovingly cared for by our team throughout the night and you will be updated of any changes to your pet’s status.
Early in the morning you will receive a call from our duty veterinary surgeon to inform you of how your pet has been overnight, then we will arrange any final payments or check again any paperwork that is required for your claim.
🐾 The Team from Best Friends Group will then arrive at Vets Now to collect your pet and transport them back.

🐔⚠️ | Avian Influenza Update

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) has been declared across Great Britain to mitigate the risk of the disease spreading amongst poultry and captive birds.

This means that from midday on Monday 17 October, it will be a legal requirement for all bird keepers in Great Britain to follow strict biosecurity measures to help protect their flocks from the threat of avian flu.

All necessary information can be found here: bit.ly/3COdck7

Housing measures to protect poultry & captive birds from are being extended and will be in force across England from 00:01 07 Nov 2022.
This means that, from this time, it is a mandatory requirement for all bird keepers across England to keep their birds housed, or where this is not practical, to take steps to separate them from wild birds.
Keeping your birds undercover away from wild birds is vital to minimise the risk of them becoming infected with from wild birds. But housing alone is not the only solution – it remains essential that you follow strict biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of disease spreading to your birds. Read more:

Please note proof of ownership will be required.

Travelling your cat safely is as important as travelling with dogs.
Cats like to feel secure in a good quality cat carrier.
We can recommend some products to help your car feel calmer when traveling, speak to our vets or nurses next time you visit.
Please remember to keep your cat securely in their carrier while waiting in our reception, our main door opens onto the road and we would be devastated to have any escapees

So many of us will be heading off on holidays and taking our beloved family members with us.
It is illegal to travel with an unrestrained dog in the car. There are many products available from harnesses to secure crates. The RAC provide excellent recommendations to help with your decision.
Enjoy your adventures and the memories that are made.

All workplaces should be totally free of abuse to its staff, this includes veterinary practices.

The reality is that 57% of vets were intimidated by clients last year and 48% were abused online.

Sadly all members of veterinary staff are likely to be subjected to abuse on occasions, this is not acceptable.

We are asking everyone to be patient, be kind and be courteous. We are doing our best to do everything we can to help you and your pets. Sadly there is a national shortage of clinical staff and this can contribute to wait times for non urgent appointments
