Peterborough Cat Rescue

Peterborough Cat Rescue As a registered charity, we are dedicated to rescuing cats and promoting neutering. Charity Registration Number: 1153044.

We regret we do not have the capacity to respond individiidually to all applications. This is a 100% volunteer run charity, with passionate volunteers with commitments. Peterborough Cat Rescue helps to re-home stray and unwanted cats. We are a self financing group of people who love cats and are concerned about cat welfare. We believe that all cats should be neutered to prevent the widespread numb

er of unwanted animals that find themselves in rescue centres. You can now donate to Peterborough Cat Rescue via our donate button at the top of our page next to the message button, or click on the link below which will take you straight to our PayPal account. Thank you in advance for your kind generosity x

I hate having to say this but we simply cannot take in every cat being phoned in as we do not have the space, un neutered tom's are out fighting with wounds and it hurts to say no but what can we do if we are full , yes we hear the change of tone in your voice when we say that we can't help , call yourself a charity but until we get neutering as a law and one that can be policed , how I have no idea, making having a chip as law certainly has fallen flat on its face but something needs to be done , kittens are arriving and it does not bode well for the cats in Peterborough this summer.

Feline Friday Post!

Here are some of our longer term residents who require a quiet, calm household still looking for their forever homes.

Sophie aged 9 is looking for a quiet home with quieter older children (suggested age 12+) and no other pets. Sophie enjoys her routine and enjoys to sit near you on the sofa in the evenings.

Bertie aged 9-10 is looking for a quiet home with older children (suggested age 14+). He is not tested with other cats. He has a gentle calm nature and despite his age, is still playful. He enjoys his own company and also human company.

Pebbles aged approximately 1 year old is a shy timid girl who needs a quieter home with older children (age 12+). She will need time and patience to gain trust. She may be able to live with another cat with careful introduction.

Mia is a beautiful blue tortoiseshell aged 2-3 years. She was very shy but has grown in confidence since being in foster. She will reward you with chirps and get your attention for fuss with a paw tap. She loves to play. She can be nervous around sudden movements and loud noises so would prefer a quiet home with older children only and would prefer to be the only cat.

Lucky aged approximately 3 years. Lucky is affectionate and a lap cat! She can be shy to begin with and would prefer to be the only cat. She would prefer a quieter home with older children.

Big Al (Mr Al) approximately 3-4years old. Big Al would like a quieter home with no children or other pets. He is suitable to be an indoor cat

If interested, please find the cats full bio on the dedicated Peterborough Cat Rescue - Homing Page which may have further photos and videos in the comments.

Come join us today at the colonel Dane memorial hall and home one of our beautiful cats waiting for their forever owner! We’re here till 3

25/02/2025

Just a polite reminder, just because you have a stray in your garden, owner going into hospital and you ring in to ask us to take the cat please understand there is always a waiting list and we can only take in when we have a space possibly created by a cat being homed or other not so nice reason, we cant magic up the space as much as we would love to as we are here to help cats but the volumes are not manageable at the moment and it does not help as pregnant stray cats are surfacing and they will take priority so unless people get their cats neutered to stop the amounts we are forever going to be in a no win situation our drop in the ocean 935 cats homed last year makes no difference but has a huge impact on the amount of cats we can take in so please understand there is no answer to our predicament as much as we would like there to be.

Nature : Pebbles needs a very special type of home. A quieter home where she will be allowed to settle in her own time. As you can see from the photos she is a very sweet girl. She was however very shy when she came to us and I’m sure until settled she will temporarily return to that . On her vet exam she was shown to have a heart murmur. This is a grade 1 [the lowest type ,only detected with a stethoscope and does not show in any other way]. She could well grow out of this as she gets very stressed in the vets and I am sure this would not have helped during her examination.

PLEASE NOTE:
Unfortunately we are unable to reserve cats to allow for any upcoming holidays etc.

Please only apply if you are in a position to adopt and take the cat home ASAP after viewing. We are unable to hold a cat once viewed/reserved.

Please ensure EVERYONE in the household is in agreement with adopting a cat prior to submitting an application form.

Please ensure you have fully considered the cost of owning a cat and the benefit of cat pet insurance.

If you can meet ALL of the requirements above, please submit interest via the form hyperlink below

A moan..... we are always under pressure and put ourselves out daily , trying to get cats through the vets for ops is a nightmare at times so if you ring and ask us to take your cats because you don't want them anymore and yes it may be short notice but trying to align everything up sometimes it happens so please don't refuse the space and have the audacity to tell us to come back later tomorrow followed by putting the phone down.
Why is it everyone has to have a moan about something, a poster looks like a scam, someone has done that out of the goodness of their heart, we cant turn out just when you think we should, I can tell you the cat population in Peterborough would be in a sorry state if we were not turning out or should I say volunteering, there would be many more cats on the streets so if you are an avid cat lover think on it if Peterborough cat rescue was not here, you can have your views but please think of the people who who are out day and night who get upset with all your negative comments and if you feel so strongly that people can't get a chip put in because of cost or vets are expensive for neutering, you don't have to tell us we have to find thousands every month because of not neutering, what happened to saving up a bit a month and we will still bang on about it all believe me !
