⛺️😎🌟 SUMMER CAMPS 2024 ⛺️😎🌟

That’s a wrap!!! What an amazing 3 summer camps we’ve had this year right from little ones to our seniors. We’ve had showing, dressage, gymkhanas and water fights, grooming, jumping, movie and pizza nights and SO MUCH FUN!!!

All the children have been wonderful, kind, caring to each other and the horses and have shown their passion and love for the horses and riding. They have all made so much progress in their own way and we are super proud of them all!!

We have shared so many photos in the private camp groups for parents/carers, far to many to share them all here but here is a few.

I would like to thank the fabulous team we have here at Folly Farm. Georgia, Becs and Sophia you are all awesome - thank you!!!

The horses and ponies have been so patient, giving and loved the pampering and fun although I’m sure they’ll be pleased to have a nice quiet yard this evening and no late night football 🤣

I think this year is about the 12th year we hosted summer camps and Folly and each year it really is a pleasure so thank you!

Now for a rest before the last of the pony days and summer activities!

Well done to the entire dressage team.

Carl Hester had the most wonderful program and I personally loved the way of going of Jagerbomb he was so relaxed with an open frame Moody Dressage he is just fabulous!

A massive congratulations to the Team GB eventing team Tom McEwen Ros Canter Eventing and Laura Collett Eventing for being home Gold for the team and to Laura Collett Eventing for a fabulous Individual Bronze!!!

Was wonderful to see all the horses looking bold, fit and happy!

Dressage starts today with the 1st group riding - will you be watching?

I wasn’t sure if I was going to make any sort of comment or announcement regarding the video of Charlotte Dujardin and investigation by the FEI but I feel I need to say something as so many of our young riders have really aspired to be like her.

There was no excuse for her behaviour and use of the whip during that session and I consider what I saw in the video to be abuse of the horse and dangerous for all involved.

Horses are wonderfully tolerate and magical beings that when treated with respect give so much to us and teach us so many lessons in life.

All the horses on our yard are special in their own way and we will always encourage all those learning with us to show them respect, love and gratitude for all that they give us. Each is unique and has something to teach us if we are willing to be patient and listen.

Today we said a really sad goodbye to our beautiful sassy and so loved queen Eve

Eve was 29 and and has been with us since a 4 year old so has spent 25 years with us at Folly Farm long before we opened as a riding school.

She will be so missed!

We are looking for regular weekend staff to join our fabulous team!

You will be responsible for the care of our horses including all normal yard tasks, grooming and tacking up for lessons.

Reliability and super care of our ponies is our top priority, we’re a friendly crew and work together as a team to make sure our horses and customers are happy. Pay depends on experience.

We are thrilled to announce that we have been able to extended our Stay and play sessions! Starting now, join us every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

We are delighted to welcome the fabulous Chris Milburn who will be running a clinic for us on 12th August.

Chris has played for 20 years, has coached at club, national and international level as well as the UK Polocrosse chief coach. He played for the UK Open Squad and this year will be heading out as an umpire at the Polocrosse World Cup.

In September last year I wrote with regard to the planning application submitted by the owners of the land where we currently run Folly Farm EC and advised I would keep you updated with any developments.

You may be aware that planning application has now been submitted and is being consulted on.

Whilst planning is yet to be decided on and at that time we will have many months notice in order to move we would like to assure you again that we are currently business as usual.

We have lots of concerns regarding the development of the land around our current site since the Great Haddon development has been approved. The current site will be surrounded by houses. This will potentially mean increased traffic on the public foot path through Folly Farm and while we know people love to see the horses it does bring more risk to them, for example people are not always aware that some horses cannot be fed treats as this can cause health problems. We are worried for our horses, their security, keeping them safe in addition to the fact they would now be living in a fully built up area.

We are therefore really pleased that to let you know that we have found land locally in Farcet. For those unaware this is only a couple of miles away (although I cannot disclose exact location yet).

This is a larger site than we are on now and allows us to provide a far nicer and more peaceful environment for our horses and clients with improved facilities, better hacking and this will make for happier horses and enhanced services.

We are really excited about this development and the potential going forward.

Despite the wild weather, Easter at our riding school was a blast! 🌧️💨

We had a fantastic time bonding with our four-legged friends and enjoying the equestrian adventures, especially our clinic with Fancy footwork poles and grids who put us all right through our paces and got the horses' brains working overtime.
