Snuggles with Sunny ☀️

I love doing what I do because I get to see all of those different cat personalities shine, however, there is nothing more rewarding than feeling 'accepted' by your kitty client from day one.

If they want to play they'll get to play.

If they want to chill on my lap and fall asleep I'll let them do it (mental note made to start taking a book 📖 with me).

If they want to be left alone then that's completely fine too, though I will sit there and see if it's just a lil' moment of shyness.

Presenting one of my latest feline clients... Sunny ☀️ an absolute ray of sunshine. I had the pleasure of looking after him for a week not long back and he brought me so much joy. He'd hear my car pull up and I'd be greeted with meows and leg rubs before jumping on me for cuddles and snuggles before food.

Two sets of keys picked up for my next two jobs 🙌🏻 I've got a busy few weeks lined up with back to back jobs.

Unfortunately I've already had to decline a few requests (I'm sorry 😭❤️) because my general rule is to only take on one kitty client at a time so I can spend lots of time with them around my full time job.

Weekends are a little different however!

We've been a little bit busy at Whisker Watch HQ integrating the latest furbaby to join the family... Presenting wee Morag. She's the ultimate biscuit maker, lap warmer, and shadow. 😺 She's been with us for one month now.

She's a teeny tiny little thing and it's been interesting introducing her to my resident boy, Keanu. Each day we make progress, and then take several steps back, but we are taking it slow and ensuring both cats get plenty of love ❤️

Bookings are open for the summer ☀️ I'll post my availability soon although I try to keep my availability updated on Pawshake and CatInAFlat ❤️ keep eyes posted for a post soon!

This weekend I'm back with this little cheeky angel ❤️ Miss Luna () 🌙 We had a little play after breakfast this morning and I'll be popping back over lunch for the next visit ✨🐾

She's such a little sweetheart. I placed my coat on the floor this morning so she could have a good sniff whilst I sorted out her litter and breakfast. She's still quite wary around me and I ensure any contact is on her terms (even if it just means me sticking my hand out and waiting for her to come and have a smell) but we are getting there!

Presenting... My latest little customer 🌜Luna. She's such a shy little one so for my first visit I sat with her in silence after she left the safety of the sofa. This is a photo sent by one of her pawrents but hopefully she'll trust me soon enough so I can get one myself ❤️🐾🙏🏻

Night-time cat snuggles are the best ❤️ and naturally they come included with the cat sitting if your feline companion requests one. It does mean I will refuse to move until said cat has left of their own accord but don't worry, any additional time spent won't cost you a penny 🥰

Morning! A change of scenery for me this week as I'm back in t'North looking after this beautiful old girl and the house whilst my Mum is away. This is Sky aka Skybo or Skyrocket. She's a (nearly) 15 year old tripawd with heaps of character and little needle claws (and has a habit of coming in soaking wet, demanding warmth and head strokes) 🐱🐾

🐱 𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙮 🐱

I'm receiving bookings already for 2024 which is so exciting, so on the agenda today is.... DBS and insurance!

The aim is to 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 launch February 1st so I've got lots to do before then including finishing all of my documentation - so all information about the service, booking and payment platforms, etc.

Until then I am still available via Cat in a Flat and Pawshake ✨

I've got a little idea up my sleeve to help 'give back' (as it's important to me) but watch this space 🐾🐱

One of the most rewarding things I've done, fostering two little semi-feral kittens who had a rough start in life. They were found cold, alone, and abandoned in Peterborough.

It honestly broke my heart and there were so many cats and kittens that needed a little bit of love and a whole lot of patience to bring them out of their shell. Peterborough Cat Rescue do an incredible job of taking these in and finding them their forever homes 🩷 and I will always support what they do, but they do need our help as they're often absolutely inundated (and as we know, our little furry companions don't come cheap).

I nicknamed my two little temporary fur babies Kiki and Jiji (Ghibli fan over here 👋🏻) and the progress in just a few weeks was absolutely insane. Here's Kiki on day one version two weeks later where she started to trust me enough to play 🩷

Presenting... My own pride and joy, Keanu. He's one of the main reasons why I started researching about cat sitting/visits after he was in a cattery for one night and reacted quite badly to the stress.

He's possibly the most skittish, nervous little pudding I've ever had the pleasure of knowing but I love him dearly and if anything, he's taught me so much about how to handle the more timid cats 🐱

Keanu is not typically a cuddler and any attention is definitely on his terms. So if you have a furry friend who is the same, please be assured that I will respect their space and let them come to me 🩷

Introducing... Milo 🐱 my first furry client and probably the reason that I've decided to give this a go properly. We're only on day two but he's the sweetest and most regal furbaby (although my own cat is very curious about all the new smells I'm coming home with).

Cats are so unbelievably unique in personality and I think that's why I love them so much. Within the first few minutes of meeting Milo he was sniffing my hand and didn't seem all too bothered about me 🩷

Expect lots of photos of Milo in the next few days 🤭

I've got the catnip, his toys, and chilled out playlist ready for this evening 🩷 I'm out tonight, so Keanu has the house to himself (he prefers this - he's the most skittish little furball) but I do know he gets a bit spooked by fireworks, and with a green around the corner of my house I do worry that there will be a few big ones going off... 🐱🐾

New Year's Eve is tonight ✨ and as the proud owner of a little furry baby, I often worry how they're going to be when the New Year comes around. Busy houses, loud gatherings, music, fireworks... It's a lot of sensory stimulation for our little furry pals and can cause a lot of stress.

🐾 it's a no brainer, but keep your pets inside. If you're hosting, be mindful of external doors opening with guests entering or leaving (and maybe give them a heads up that there's a small family member that needs to be considered).

🐾 Provide safe hiding spaces, away from noise. Move their bed, toy, food and water into a quiet space. Cats love to hide, so make a space under the bed or keep the wardrobe door ajar (just remember that they might be in there...)

🐾 Play soothing music, classical works well (though maybe don't opt for something with a violent orchestral climax...!) and there are plenty of playlists available through Spotify or other music streaming services. Mine is a fan of the piano evidently, so Ludovico Einaudi (or the Ghibli 'sleep' playlist) works well.

So lock those doors, keep them snuggly safe, and stick on some Meowzart (...sorry!) and hope you and your family, friends and little furbabies have a lovely end to 2023.
