If you have visited us recently you will have noticed we have had a redesign of our waiting room to try to make it more cat friendly, as per feedback from some of our clients 🐈🐈

We now have a cat zone and dog zone so cats and dogs don't need to get stressed out by each other in the same area and are blocked from each other's view. We will have some cat trees arriving in the new year also so pet carriers can be off the floor. If you have a particularly stressed cat, or other small furry such as rabbit or guinea pig, please let reception know and we can provide towels sprayed with pet remedy calming spray to place over the pet carrier.

We are always open for suggestions so if you have any other ideas that we could help with please feel free to speak to a member of the reception team

IMPORTANT PHONE UPDATE

THIS PROBLEM HAS NOW BEEN FIXED. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING 🙂

Despite having phone technicians attempting to fix our phone lines Friday and over the weekend they have still been unable to fix the fault with our lines! We are trying to get this resolved as quickly as possible and are so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We understand how frustrating this is and are equally as frustrated that this is still not resolved!

Therefore if you require an appointment we are asking if you can please email with your details, reason for appointment and a phone number so we can book you in. Any medication requests or general enquiries can be emailed also. Our email is [email protected] we will be available answering requests during normal working hours 8:15am-7pm (We are closed over the weekend and out of hours for emergencies only is Vets Now Peterborough 01733 601514)

If you need urgent assistance please ring Medivet Bretton 01733 333444 or Welland Road 01733 310584 who are happy to assist. If you have a real life-threatening emergency please do not delay by emailing/phoning and come straight down.

Thank you for your patience and understanding! 🐱🐶🐰🐹🐀🐣🐾

We have been notified of an issue with our phones this evening which means when ringing in it is saying our number is invalid. We are now closed for the night but please keep our emergency number in your phones for any emergencies overnight Vets Now Peterborough 01733 601514.

We are hoping this will be resolved in time for opening tomorrow at 8:15am. If you are unable to get through please email non urgent queries to [email protected] or please ring our Bretton practice 01733 333444 if you have an emergency.

We would like to thank our clients for their support and patience the last few days as we have been incredibly busy and dealing with a lot of emergencies and complicated cases behind the scenes which resulted in longer wait times and some non urgent appointments being rearranged. Unfortunately one of our vets was subject to verbal abuse early on yesterday and was actually sworn at multiple times as could not see a patient without an appointment immediately due to dealing with another urgent appointment at the same time. Despite this set back, however, our faith was restored by a very patient waiting room of people later on in the evening when we were faced with another emergency surgery resulting in appointments being delayed massively. Our remaining vet then worked solo, seeing all their patients plus the other vet's appointments whilst they were in emergency surgery (Also dealing with no receptionists or nurses at some stages as it was all hands on deck out the back!)

Thank you all so much for being so patient and understanding we really do appreciate it in such stressful and busy circumstances. ❤️

Big shout out also to our fantastic team getting through an emotional roller-coaster of a week and pulling together to support each other 🐾🐕🐈🐰🐹

We have had an elderly tabby cat handed into us this morning found in Coates. Unfortunately the chip details are not up to date and we are urgently trying to contact his owners as he needs veterinary treatment. If you think he may belong to you please contact us.

Update: due to some negative comments we would like to add he is receiving emergency treatment and will be looked after by members of staff during the weekend, whilst we are closed. Legally we are limited to what treatment we can provide without consent from the owner and our main priority is getting him back home and treating a poorly old man 😿

We are having issues with medication deliveries from our wholesaler due to them changing warehouses. Please provide plenty of notice for any medication requests, 1 weeks notice would be ideal so we have time to source medication elsewhere if needed!

31/08/2023

With effect from 1st September 2023 the RCVS have made changes to rules regarding prescribing of some prescription medications and repeat prescriptions.

Whilst some changes may not affect all our clients, one of these changes is related to the prescribing of parasite treatment, which will now be classed as an antimicrobial which is the same category as antibiotics.

As a result of this you may be asked to bring your pet for a vet appointment more frequently than before in order to obtain flea, tick and worming medications.

We would like to add these rules are out of our control and we must comply in order to meet the RCVS requirements and abide by the law. Whilst we understand how frustrating these new rules may be please bear this in mind when communicating concerns to staff. We are all working as hard as we can to cause as little inconvenience as possible and ask you to please be patient whilst we adjust to these new rules ourselves.

For more information please follow the link below to the RCVS website:

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING DIRECT INSURANCE CLAIMS

We have recently had an increase in the amount of direct insurance claims submitted, which take a considerable amount of staff time from start to finish : Submitting pre-authorisations, completing paperwork, liasing with insurance companies and their queries, chasing payments, and discussing cases that are rejected.

As a result of this we have made the decision to implement a charge on all direct insurance claims (claims in which the insurance company pays the vets directly). There will not be a charge for claims made that are paid upfront and claimed back by yourself, as these do not take as much time to complete.

As of Monday 4th September there will be a £25 initial processing charge, and a subsequent charge of £10 for continuations

Before we became Medivet we did used to charge for direct insurance claims and removed this charge when joining Medivet. However due to increased demand and the hours we spend dealing with insurance claims and insurance companies we have had to reapply this charge. This is not just us and most vets now charge for direct insurance claims.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support

We have unfortunately this week had a lot of rudeness and negative comments made to our reception staff because our vets were unable to prepare prescriptions as quickly as normal. Our vets are working hard and as quickly as they can to keep up with high demand. This week many lunch breaks have been worked through, everyday staff have stayed past their normal working hours and stayed after we have closed , we have had several emergencies and inpatients receiving critical care, one day one of our vets was in theatre a total of 7 HOURS.

Whilst we understand it is frustrating to wait please bear in mind the person at the end of the phone who has probably already been shouted and complained at endless times that day. If you walk in and think it looks quiet please think what might be going on behind the scenes. We are never ever doing nothing, and whilst preparing a prescription may only take 10 minutes this is also enough time to treat a seriously ill pet, provide emergency first aid , perform CPR, or for a family to say a last goodbye to a much loved pet.

URGENT NOTICE REGARDING PRESCRIPTIONS
Please be aware we currently have a backlog of prescriptions requests waiting to be actioned due to vet shortages and emergencies out of our control. Therefore the normal 72 hours notice we kindly ask for medication requests will be longer. Our vets are trying to work through the backlog as quickly as possible and we will notify everyone by text or email when medication requested is ready. We apologise for the delay and thank you all for your patience!

We have recently started offering the new Medivet health care plan, which is a monthly direct debit to help spread the costs and save money on routine treatments.

Some of our clients may currently be on our old health plan with Vetsure. The contract with this company will be ending soon and we will need to transfer anyone on the old plan onto the new one. If you are unsure which plan you are on please ring or email the practice.

If you are interested in joining the plan or need to transfer from the old plan please speak to a member of the reception team.

We are installing new phones on Wednesday 2nd August which may cause some disruption to the phones lines that day. If you call and are unable to get through please email [email protected]
