Undoubtedly the most common question I am asked is......

“How can I get my puppy to stop???”

Well, What I get my owners to think is......

“How can I get my puppy TO DO??”

This is the question to ask yourself that will make yours and your pups life ALOT easier!

Your puppy most likely thinks it’s called one of these names below ⬇️
“NO”
“stop it”
“pack it in”
“get off”
“Drop it”

Unusual names I agree, but they are probably the most commonly used terms by 99.9% of owners for 99.8% of the day when puppy is awake.

These are all actually cues to STOP doing something?!? 🛑 ✋🏽

We gota be more proactive if we don’t want a full blown puppy blues meltdown.....(read my post from a couple of weeks back🐊)

Look at what you want puppy TO DO instead👍🏼👊🏼

Remember they NEED to chew!!
“CHEWING IS DOING”

it’s a way of finding out what’s what, exploration, relaxation, pain relief and also a way to keep them occupied
(Thumbless creatures ya see 👍🏼👎🏽)

But you gota have the right kinda chews at the right times.
A chew that once was part of an animal is usually your best bet........(see your local pet shop for details, shop local where possible 🙏🏽)

When awake They have to have LOTS of access to DOING, otherwise you, your clothes, your antique table n chairs (or IKEA ones more likely) are going to be the DOING, which is not ideal for anyone and produces a lot of name calling 😬😱

You should either be interacting, call it Training if you like!
Giving things to interact with, multiples of, walking, helping them relax (see above)
or attempting to sooth them to sleep 💤 😴

It takes a long time for your puppy to be happy in its own company, alone in their doggy thoughts, able to just hang out and lay on the sofa doing sweet sod all while you look at them all lovingly and think back to the furry crocodile hazy days 🐊😬

This mostly comes with age, look at a human child toddler for example. They can’t just sit still with heir snotty little noses twiddling their grubby little thumbs thinking about how wonderful their life is with mr tumble in it(see cbeebies)
No, they have to be doing something, playing, running, screaming, snotting......
because they have loads of excess energy which needs burning off and all whilst trying to work out what this crazy world is about 🌎
(good luck with that one kids 🤔🤔)
You don’t learn how to chill out and “just be” 🧘🏼🧘🏽‍♂️until you are much older and same goes for puppy.

But it does happen PROMISE!! 🙏🏽

Time, patience........
Oh and incredibly thick skin always helps 😝

This applies to teaching your dog a new skill, any skill actually…..

To get good/competent for the majority takes time, a lot of time and continuous practice to keep that skill at a decent level.

Please remember to not rush things and expect too much too soon…..

ESPECIALLY the babies aka puppies!!!

Quick update on knockers for those who have kindly been asking.

She’s all good and getting back to full strength.

We did a survey of exactly 100 dogs.

During the survey we sat each one down and asked them to fill in a simple form.

Question 1.
Is force free training woke nonsense?

Question 2.
Do you feel better about your person for being treated kindly?

Question 3.
Would you prefer to be treated harshly so you know what not to do?

All the dogs answered the same.

Well they didn’t actually write anything but I’m sure you can imagine the answers they would have given!!!!!!

(Because dogs can’t write init, no thumbs🫣)
