The Speckledey is a modern hybrid, it is a cross between a Rhode Island area and a Maran, very similar in looks to the Barred Maran, but lays better, and is good for families and beginners wanting a friendly, gentle chicken and docile, they are a good breed.

At home in both a large open space and a small run, the Speckledey is hardy, good forager, and very friendly, age approx 8+ years old, and makes an valuable addition to the flock, very popular for small holders.

The Speckledey is a hybrid and is relatively easy to keep. They are Friendly, and they lay dark brown eggs approx 250+ eggs a year

They are very easy to handle and they socialize well with their new family and other chickens, great with children.

At home in both a large open space and a small run, the Bluebell is hardy, good forager, and very friendly, age approx 5 - 8 years old, and makes an valuable addition to the flock, very popular for small holders.

The Bluebell is a hybrid and looks similar to a Copper Blue Maran and is relatively easy to keep. They are Friendly, and they lay pale brown eggs approx 280 to 300 eggs a year

They are very easy to handle and they socialize well with their new family and other chickens, great with children.

The Light Sussex ticks a lot of boxes for families wanting a friendly, gentle chicken who is a good layer of pinky-brown eggs. She is equally happy with human company or sitting quietly with her flock-mates.

At home in both a large open space and a small run, the Light Sussex is a good forager, so useful for anyone on a budget, and makes an elegant addition to the flock.

Eggs: 180 – 210 cream / light brown. Come in different Colours: Brown, Buff, Coronation, Light, Red, Speckled, Silver, White (Standardised UK). Useful to Know: Hardy, good for beginners.

The Sussex chicken is also popular on the show scene and relatively easy to keep. They come in eight colours – Brown, Buff, Coronation, Light, Red, Speckled, Silver, White (standardised in the UK). They are also available in bantam versions.

Sussex chickens are upright, alert, and usually docile. The Sussex Chicken has a wide, flat back, a deep breast and broad shoulders. Their tail is held at 45 degrees. They have a single comb and red ear lobes and comb. They are good foragers, and the Light Sussex is often used to create hybrids. When crossed with a ‘gold’ cockerel, they will produce sex-linked chicks. They rarely go broody.

The Light Sussex is one of the oldest known English breed

They are very easy to handle and they socialize well with their new family and other chickens.

French Copper Black Marans are lovely big, gentle birds and well known for their Dark Chocolate Brown eggs. Approx 260 eggs a year.

As in the name originates from France, along with all the other 10 varieties of Marans.

Black Copper Marans are a stunning breed. They have black feathers with an iridescent green sheen and copper flecks, with feathers down their legs, this sets them apart in your flock. They are very easy to handle and they socialize well with their new family and other chickens.
