‼️ PLEASE READ ‼️

The devastating news yesterday has been announced that the UK total number of deaths due to Coronavirus so far has risen sharply from 21,678 to 26,097 as those in care homes and the community were included for the first time.

This news has come in minutes after receiving another message asking if I’m reopening because some grooming establishments in the area have already reopened. So I’ll answer publicly here...

No. I am not open.

But let me explain why...👇🏻

Everybody seems to be relaxing restrictions. B&Q are reopening, Greggs, Costa, Homebase and Burger King are all among those big names who’ve opened their doors again recently, so it’s not surprising people are starting to expect businesses to be operating, and there is mounting pressure on small businesses like mine to open their doors again.

But, Boris Johnson warned us only two days ago that we are, and I quote, ‘at the moment of maximum risk’.

It is my opinion that all we are going to achieve by choosing to relax our self imposed restrictions too soon is encourage this virus to stick around for even longer, which will not only cause a second wave of new deaths, but it will mean more and stronger government restrictions down the line.

So whilst the whole world may appear to be getting back to normal, I will not open my salon until the government deem it safe to do so.

As well as this, the new DEFRA (government) guidelines directed to pet groomers specifically state that I can work and dogs can be groomed BUT only if welfare issues are a factor.

There are many other strict guidelines to accompany that statement that make it impossible to work effectively:

🐾 Owners aren't allowed to bring their dog to the salon (unless they can walk) as this is non essential travel

🐾 Groomers may collect, but this requires us to change our vehicle insurance

🐾 Our vehicles would need to be fully disinfected, not only between each dog, but also between picking up and dropping off that same dog

🐾 Dogs have to be disinfected when arriving at the salon, PPE changed, then the groom can happen

🐾 After the groom, the salon space and all equipment needs to be disinfected

All of the above is all very well and I don’t disagree with any of it, but it would mean that one groom of a Cockerpoo would entail a total of approximately 4-5 hours.

If anybody is happy to pay up to £130 for the work that the groom would take, then that’s great, but otherwise it’s just not possible.

And yes, whilst there are circumstances in which I can work, the decision to stay closed for me is a moral one. I will not contribute towards the spread of this virus. I will not risk giving it to you, and I will not risk bringing it home to my family either, and therefore my salon will remain closed until the government restrictions are lifted.

The one piece of advice that has remained unchanged throughout all of this is...

Stay at home 💙 Protect the NHS 💙 Save lives

And so that is exactly what I will continue to do.

I hope that helps to explain my position.

Much love as always, and stay safe 💜

A very tough time for small businesses at the moment.
The best support you can give us is by maintaining your dogs coat at home the best you can with a brush and comb so we can book you back in ASAP when we are able to reopen 🐾

Stay safe everyone 💜

Dog groomers standing together for the NHS.

This salon is proud to be one of thousands of grooming businesses following the government and industry guidelines, closing to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus

These are difficult times and much as we would like to be open, we must do what we can to protect our clients and protect the NHS.

We miss our clients and understand that they will be getting hairier, and being closed will have a huge impact on our small business but the health and safety of humans must come first!
Dog grooming is not an essential service and all salons, including home salons and mobile vans have been recommended to close to limit the spread of the virus, though we are aware some are still trying to work it is not worth the risk to have your dog groomed. Frontline workers are putting their lives and their families lives at risk to keep us safe.

Please Stay at home

-Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (if you are a key worker)

-If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at ALL times

-Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.

Rest assured that we will be doing all we can once we reopen to get everyones grooms caught up. Please stay home, protect yourself protect your loved ones and protect the NHS.

🐶💜 PUPPIES 💜🐶

Getting your puppy groomed is NOT just a cute thing to do, it’s an essential part of their training and should be as important as teaching your dog to sit.

Arriving at your groomers with an unruly 6, 9 or even 12 month old puppy and expecting a good groom is both unrealistic and unfair to both your dog and your groomer.

You wouldn’t drop your dog off with a trainer for 90 minutes and expect a fully trained dog returned so don’t expect us to be able to teach your puppy to accept all elements of grooming and produce a perfect groom in just one session.

WE ARE NOT MAGICIANS 🎩

We have to introduce them to the bath, high velocity (very noisy!) dryers, brushes, combs, clippers, nail clippers AND show them that having scissors around their face and eyes is okay. That is a lot to do and becomes more and more difficult and stressful for both your dog and your groomer the older your puppy becomes.

So please, PLEASE make visiting a groomer part of your puppies education. For their sake and ours.

Puppies can visit from just 2 weeks after their final puppy vaccinations 🙂
