CAT OF THE MONTH - Purdy

One thing we have noticed in Purdy during her time here at Gables is along with enjoying playtime she also makes this most adorable little chirp, often when sheโ€™s excited to be playing with her favourite feathered toys her chirps get lounder.

When she doesnโ€™t realise anyone is near, you can also hear her chirping away with the local birds, some days it sounds like they are having a very meaningful conversation!

Say hello to Markle! ๐Ÿ’– Our Dog of the Month for September is an affectionate, playful Cockapoo, and sheโ€™s searching for a very special forever home.

Markle is a clever girl who loves her toys ๐ŸŽพ, enjoys cuddles on her terms ๐Ÿพ, and picks up training quickly (sheโ€™s already a pro at loose lead walking ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธโœจ). Sheโ€™s also been a superstar at the groomers and vet with her brave little heart.

๐Ÿ  DESPERATELY SEEKING HOMES FOR OUR LONGEST TERM CATS ๐Ÿ 

Could you be Purdy's happily ever after? ๐Ÿ’•

Precious Purdy was initially brought into us as an unclaimed stray through the RSCPA back in May 2024. Upon arrival it was noted she had a very doughy abdomen, and mammary development, so we suspect she may have been used for breeding.

Due to her rough start in life Purdy had pyometra and gingivitis, which thankfully under our care she has now fully recovered from. Although poor little Purdy still suffers from skin issues, meaning sheโ€™ll probably be on steroids to manage this for the rest of her life. The steroids, along with her love of all things edible have caused weight gain which we've been managing here with a strict diet and daily exercise. Prospective owners will likely have to continue this for the rest of Purdy's life.

Despite all sheโ€™s been through this fearless feline still has a playful side and enjoys enrichment and gentle affection on her own terms. Since being at Gables she's really come out of her shell and will now initiate cuddles with those she knows. Purdy will need to be an indoor only cat, or an outdoor cat to a very safe location. We're confident the perfect home must be out there somewhere for her!

CAT OF THE MONTH - Purdy

Purdy may not have been the cuddliest of cats when she arrived at Gables and would shy away from anyone entering her pen, but fast forward to present day and boy has she grown in confidence.
Now when staff enter her pen, she eagerly awaits a lap for her to perch on for some affection, patience is not always her strong point and often burrows herself in all sorts of nooks to find the perfect position for a good head scratch

There's still time for your dog to win a coveted championship rosette! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿพ

Summer may be over, but that doesn't mean our dog shows are! We still have lots of upcoming shows featuring family friendly classes like "waggiest tail" and "most talented trick"... there'll be something for every pooch to enter!

All our dog shows are ยฃ2 per class, per dog. With all proceeds going to help the animals in our care. Mutts, scruffs, and all sorts are welcome!

So if your four legged friend is ready to take their rightful place on one of our winners podiums we hope to see you at one of our upcoming shows!
