DOG OF THE MONTH -

Woofie's rehabilitation begins in the paddock...

"The staff at Gables have been so patient with me. They'll come and sit quietly in the paddock with me, offering me treats, and I have started to show a mild interest in them. Although if they move I do panic and run away. There are a couple of regular Animal Care Assistants who often care for me who I have started to trust, but I'm still not ready for contact just yet! Despite my caution I do sniff, nudge and try and steal treats out of their pockets! Slowly but surely my playful personality is starting to shine!" - Woofie 🐾

Marshmallow
Originally found seriously injured with degloved foot injury and rushed to vets, where life saving treatment has been carried out for 3 weeks prior to arrival at Gables. Thank you to Plymouth Rspca branch for saving his life. He was advertised as found 3 weeks ago but no owner came forward. With no microchip owner was not contactable. HOPEFULLY people will get there cats chipped now it has been a legal requirement for months.....

Join us for a celebration by the sea with an action-packed weekend full of sea-themed fun, all across Plymouth's waterfront!

🐾 DOG SHOW AT 3PM ON 15TH SEPT AT COMMERCIAL WHARF! 🐾

We'll also have our stall there all weekend stocked full of bargains to raise funds to help the animals in our care. 🧡

We've had a eggcellent idea! 🥚 💡

Our dogs love egg boxes! They provide fantastic free enrichment for our dogs and cats as well as helping with the environment by recycling at the same time. The staff often bring them in from home, fill them with treats and let the dogs have fun.

We would be very grateful for donations of egg boxes so all of our animals can enjoy them. We can never have too many so each time you have one spare, please think of us.

DOG OF THE MONTH -

"When I first arrived here I was very malnourished and extremely frightened. My distrust of humans was profound and I avoided them at all costs. Luckily the staff here settled me in a special kennel which had previously been modified to allow a hands off route to one of the paddocks. This meant I could run, without any stress, to a secure outdoor area where I could exercise and go to the toilet in peace. As it would be too much stress for my rehabilitation to begin in the smaller area of the kennel it was decided to start it outside in the paddock. I was very happy about this decision!" - Woofie 🐾

"I've just arrived at this new strange place and it's been a very scary transition! I've never socialised with humans before but the ones here wearing orange seem to be alright. I'm happy to finally have my own private space to relax, and I like that the humans here are letting me take my time to settle in. I don't know what the future holds for me, but it's starting to seem bright..." - Woofie 🐾
