Our kennel sponsorship is almost at 100 supporters. As a sponsor you play a big part in supporting the dogs that pass through the kennel you are supporting on their journey to finding a new home. Sponsors have the option of having their name displayed on our website under their kennel and can see at anytime which dog they are currently supporting. The bonus of our web sponsor schemes is administration fees are extremely low which ensures your donation goes directly to the dogs care.

Can you help us reach 100?

Reggie
Reggie is just a pup. A very big pup.
A Turkish Kangal, one of the top ten biggest dog breeds in the world. At 7 months, he still has a fair bit of growing to do.
He is good with dogs and has lived with children but is big and boisterous. He isn’t a fan of cats.
A sweet natured boy, who loves a fuss and a cuddle. He does show puppy behaviour still, and will continue to need socialisation as he can be worried by some new encounters.

With her waggy tail and gorgeous glossy coat, Etta is hoping it won’t be long before she catches the eye of potential adopters searching for a playmate.
Etta is a clever girl who loves a challenge and will happily spend time playing search games – especially if there are treats involved! In fact she loves food a little to much and is currently on a diet. Losing a few pounds shouldn’t take too long though as Etta loves to chase a ball and is at her happiest splashing about in water. On a recent outing with one of her carers, she had a lovely time playing in the river.
Sadly, Etta is one of an increasing number of animals arriving at Woodside because their owners have been made homeless. Through no fault of her own, this friendly girl has now found herself searching for a new person or family to call her own.
Four-year-old Etta is a GSD x Rottweiler x Labrador and, due to her size, this strong girl needs a new owner who will spend time training her to walk nicely on the lead. She has previously lived with children but any children in her new family would need to be seven years or older, due to her size.
Etta loves cuddles and attention. She likes to please and knows her basic commands, and will happily lend you her paw.
Etta gets on well with most dogs but needs ongoing training with dogs when on a lead as she will react if they bark at her. She has been good when off lead with other dogs – although she sometimes gets too excited when playing and turns her ears off! Etta cannot live with cats and might chase them on a walk.
If you think you could offer Etta a forever home, please click on the link in our website to fill out an interest form or call 01752 347503.

Diesel
Diesel is a gorgeous male German Shepherd, he is almost 6 years old. He has previously lived with another dog, but can be picky with which dogs he likes. He cannot live with cats.
Diesel has previously lived with children but is looking for an adult only home, he is a nervous boy who needs more socialising. He was brought into the sanctuary after the owners increased their working hours and sadly no longer have the time he needs . Diesel will need a patient, experienced owner who is willing to take the time to socialise him, and gain his trust, due to his initial nervousness when meeting new people and being in new situations. More info 01752 347503 or through our website

Riley
Riley is a 9 year old husky, who was brought into the sanctuary after his owners were forced by circumstance and literally couldn’t afford his food so needed our help to find him the right home . He is a gorgeous, friendly boy who is good with dogs, cats and children. Riley isn’t interested in toys or playing but does love to spend time outside. He has never been let off of the lead, so new owners will need to keep him on a long line, and work on his recall. Since being at the sanctuary Riley has enjoyed running around our fully enclosed fields. He is looking for a new home where he can have access to a garden and spend time enjoying the outside space. More info 01752 347503 or through our website.

Ex- Woodside Rio has been doing great work again …
Rio was adopted 5 years ago by a long term supporter who was already experienced in her breed. Shane originally came on board to help us find the right home but saw something special in her. The pair quickly formed a bond which changed the direction of both of their life’s in many ways.

We are so grateful to Shane for recognising her passion to work and giving her these opportunitues. She is an increduble dog and is now off to work in London for a few days an another adventure.

Illegal va**ng and to***co products worth an estimated £10,000 have been seized during a multi-agency operation in Weston-super-Mare.

We are extremely sad to share the news that we had to say goodbye to a much loved resident yesterday. Tinkerbell lived in the Mews and had been with us for nine years so really was part of the family here. Aged 13 years, she became very poorly suddenly yesterday morning and was taken straight to the vets but sadly despite trying we had to say goodbye. It is suspected she had a blood clot which had dislodged. RIP beautiful girl, you will be missed. x

We are running very low on dry cat food. Our cat numbers rise considerably during the summer months and with over 100 cats to care for, our food stocks get used very quickly.

We have added some onto our amazon wish list for anyone is able to help. We will also gladly except donations from other places. At the moment we really need the following brands as we know they are great for sensitive tummies or fussy eaters - Purina, James Wellbeloved, Harringtons and Burgess.

Could you offer 8-year-old Jet the comfortable retirement home he so deserves? This elegant boy arrived at the sanctuary through no fault of his own after his owners had to move out of their home.

Although Jet was originally a racing greyhound, he has lived in a home since so has already adapted to family life. And we very much hope it won’t be long before he’s back on a comfy sofa enjoying life with his new owners.

Jet is an affectionate boy who loves leaning in for a cuddle. True to his breed, he is sweet-natured and doesn’t need a lot of exercise. Being a little older, Jet is a calm, laid-back boy who will thank his new owners with lots of kisses and cuddles.

Gentle Jet has previously been around children aged 10+ so could live with children of this age and upwards. He has been fine with other dogs when out on walks but would benefit from more socialising with other breeds, as previously he’d only been around greyhounds.

Jet cannot live with cats or small furries and will need to be muzzled on walks, something he is comfortable with.

If you think you could put the sparkle back into Jet’s big brown eyes, please fill out an interest form or call us on 01752 347503.

Did you know that Woodside has helped to spay and neuter more than 20,000 animals?
The charity remains at the forefront of work to prevent unwanted litters and unnecessary euthanasia.
In the 1970s, Woodside founder Carole and other volunteers started a pioneering scheme enabling people in some of Plymouth's most deprived areas to have their pets spayed or neutered.
Nearly 50 years on, spaying and neutering remains at the heart of the charity's work. Today Woodside runs a subsided scheme for low-income households at its clinic in Wolseley Road and selected vets, and all cats, dogs and rabbits rehomed from Woodside are spayed or neutered, usually in the charity’s onsite clinic at Elfordleigh.
