Anima is looking for his forever home. Only a year old. Very well handled including children in his foster home. Cheeky playful chap.
He’s also been fine with thier dog. Lovely sweet natured boy neutered with a full bill of health.
Mojo is looking for his forever home and lap. He’s neutered and ready to go. He’s got on well with other ferrets. He’s only about 1 year old. Very well handled and would make a perfect first time ferret. Could be paired up with another here such as Anima who again would be a great first time ferret. Or he would make a wonderful addition to your furry family.
He loves to play, loved his cuddles and fuss too. Such a sweet boy.
This little lad is doing so well. Adult canines now coming through well.
Loving his meat, can see he’s a feisty chap with it. Now weighing in at 384g from 275g.
Gabriel is being a fantastic foster mum still.
Although driving me batty ripping up newspaper constantly. Including soiled!!
Sky (the albino) who came in last year with her litter dotes on him too. Although she’s fed up with Gabriel treating her like another kit dragging her to bed. My hand gets the same treatment 🤣🙈.
Fingers crossed for Sky next week with a meet and greet potential home. She’s been here too long and is such a lovely sweet and playful girl.
Welcome to the house of fun! Madness! No pun intended 🤣. Think they are loving the revamped big house.
So the big ferret house is just about done.
I’ve moved them back in as work stopped due to me being poorly with Covid. I’ve tried to do this the last three years but never been able to keep enough space around the back to move the group.
Put money aside to do it then ended up being swallowed on other things, ended up with a massive group of rescues and kits in, one thing or another.
These are permanent residents. My own, mixed with ones that have not been able to be homed due to age, health, or being very bitey little s@it weasels! Yes Oscar I’m naming you here!
This is where the rescues move too when they are done with quarantine and ready to home.
Although not all can move in with the group at times.
I stopped work on the new run to do this. Finally having a bit of room and the weather. Been a massive undertaking cleaning, painting, rebuilding the pen in there. Evicting 16yr old woodworm!!
The ferrets have to be locked up at clean out (they do not help me no matter what they say!). So the run is ideal with the removable front. Much to poppies disgust. Her canines testify to this!
I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Courteney Wharmby and Nicole Clarke
who are such amazing kind hearted souls. The second year in a row boarding Courteneys gorgeous babies and Nicole’s nephews and nieces, the donation they left the rescue just blew me away and I was loat for words.
So I finally had a chance to get this done.
Plus enough to comfortably finish the new run. Words will never be enough ladies. We all say thank you so very much.
More to do once I’m better. ###🥰
Edit to say the meat blood trails will be sooooo much easier to clean 🤣
Diesel the dingbat taking a quick break!🤣
Bill and Ted have come in for rehome. They are very sweet boys so far. Apparently they can be bitey although touch wood no issues so far. Am I being lulled into at false sense of security?!🤣.
They are currently in quarantine to make sure they have no nasties.
Potential home already. 😁
Looking for Australia and a new home.
These two gorgeous fuzz butts are looking for their forever home. Violet 2, Bandit 3. Lovely temperaments.
So I decided to bring the snow in 🤣
We’ve all been out one by one for some fun in the snow.
Ferret racing.
Ferret race is complete. Peanut and Poppy have given it a good test! Pop along on the 24th if you’d like to race your ferrets.
WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT.
Ferrets are obligatory carnivorous. This means they just eat meat. They don’t process or digest grains, veg, fruit, dairy etc.
They need a high fat, high protein diet.
There are commercial ferret kibbles available but many have some form of grain. Rice being marginally better than wheat.
There are certain kitten/cat foods available that are high enough protein and fat and do only contain meat without or very little grain.
You’re looking for the highest meat content, 36% min protein and 20% fat content. NO SUGARS OF ANY KIND.
You can’t however beat the real thing.
Whole prey being tops for nutrients and for enrichment.
Some people feed a 80/10/10 mix which means 80% meat, 10% bone 10% offal.
Ferrets need access to food 24hrs as they have short and fast digestion and metabolism. 4 hours and what’s gone in comes out.
They cannot go for long periods without food.
When feeding meat, keep it fresh. It can cause issues in summer with flies so just remember to check and change especially if solely raw fed.
My rule is if it’s not for for human consumption it’s not fit for ferrets.
Too many times I’ve been to places to find stinking rancid meat left. Bin what’s left the next morning do not leave it.
Check the bedding and any other hiding places as they will stash.
Not all ferrets have been brought up on raw and it can take time. They set taste preferences early in life especially the first few months.
Sadly the mistake many make is thinking just feeding chicken wings is fine. That’s not a complete diet.
If fed alongside kibble that’s fine provided they are eating both. But not an only source.
Eggs are also a good treat. But again don’t over do it unless you want digestive upset.
Day old chicks are a welcome snack as are pinkies.
This is pigeon. They have whole ones and then some chopped into bits to make sure they all have some. They’ve also had some poultry heart alongside this to make sure they have some offal. One
Before you get a ferret regardless if it’s from a rescue please do research. I’m seeing far too many tiny unsuitable indoor cages that just aren’t big enough.
Do not get them on a whim or as a random gift without having everything set up and ready.
Ferrets need company of others.
There are exceptions but that’s due to humans keeping them alone after weaning until they disassociate themselves often becoming aggressive to others. They are not solitary.
Nothing can beat ferrets rough housing and snuggling.
I appreciate people telling me they’ll let them out daily but there’s no guarantee and what about the time they are in? Think bigger the better with housing.
Yes they sleep long hours but are awake every 4 to eat and then often MANIC leaping and running about playing.
Even outdoor hutches are not big enough without a decent run attached. They are escape artists and it has to be very secure.
I’m not picking if I say somethings not big enough or secure enough. I’ve seen it all and seen what they’ll do to get out just for fun.
There are some big indoor cages or some people make a pen around in the room.
Again making sure it’s secure so they don’t get under floor boards or into wall cavities. Yes this happens!
Accidents happen ferrets are ferrets but it’s your responsibility as an owner to make sure they are comfortably and securely housed.
The other issue I’m seeing a lot is poor diet.
The health implications can be an early death sentence.
If you’d like a free ferret info guide please get in touch. All donations are appreciated but it is FREE. I rather people have the facts.
The internets full of fact but also rubbish sadly.
Please do the research before getting these amazing creatures.
I take so many in due to people learning the hard way and realising they can’t keep them.
A ferret or any pet is for life not just for Christmas!
Here’s Sky showing her behaviour due to being kept in a small cage. Sadly this may never stop.
Her and
Slowed down play. Can really see the way ferrets move. Love how he launches at me for teasing him 🤣.
No words as to what he’s doing. The back flip just got me 🤣
Looks like peanuts been caught in a blender 🤣🤣. This video is not sped up!
Thank you so much Serpells for the packing chips!
Shame I can only post one vid at a time.
This whirlwind would like to bounce into your hearts and life. Sky is a lovely 2yr old albino Jill. She’s been here some time now looking for her forever home.
She had a serious issue after her spay self mutilating her side and having a bad infection.
She’s healed incredibly well. You can’t see the scar just a slight difference in her hair colour which will disappear by the next moult.
She’s super active super hyper and super lovely!
Very playful and into everything. She doesn’t stop and Is on the go all the time wanting to explore and play.
If you feel you can offer Sky a forever loving home and take on the albino whirlwind please message.
Her babies all went to wonderful homes it’s now mums time 🥰.
She doesn’t stay still for pictures!
