SIGNS of a POORLY BiRD.
Have you ever had that feeling that something could be wrong with your parrot, but you can't be sure? that is the feeling you need to listen to, and here is why. 👇
All parrots and birds hide their illness until it's almost too late for treatment, which is why we can often wake up to find one passed in the night. Sometimes, the bird has given no clue as to there being something wrong, they hide their illness so well that no one could have ever picked up something was wrong until it is too late. In some cases, you are left with that over whelming thought that you felt something was wrong, but you were not sure what and you wanted to give it time as your bird seemed OK the day before. Louise and I always say this to people..if you do get a feeling something isn't right, then TRUST that feeling, because normally that feeling is correct.
Louise taught me to listen to this feeling when I was raising some of her baby birds years ago and taught me how to understand the behaviours of parrots and especially baby birds, and she was completley right. The key to learning this knowledge is acting QUICkLY.
Only YOU know your parrot inside and out, and because of the way they hide their illness, it is better to be over cautious than feeling like you may have left things too late.
Bayleigh spent 4 months on antibiotics and other treatments when she was a baby, had Louise not have taught and passed this information down to me she would definatley not be celebrating her 2nd birthday as her symptoms could have easily been missed, I felt something was wrong yet she hid it so well, infact she was too well for how poorly she was. I remember ringing Louise saying, I can hear a ruckle on her chest when she breathes and her words were VETS NOW ! thankfully Louise taught me to pop a parrot's tummy up to your ear so you can listen to their chest and that was how I spotted it. She showed no other symptoms. So below are just some things to look out for, which are important to try and remember or refer back to if needed. Unfortunatley not all parrots CAN be saved because of how late they show their illness but often there will be little signs, and like Louise said to me, don't hesitate in getting your bird to your vets. We hope this helps👇Remember Manadon Birds sell lots of various treatments over the counter to help support your parrot's recovery that also work alongside veterinary medicines.
