Here he is learning focus and engagement with 2 static distractions.
He is doing well ,all credit to his handler who's putting the work in ,in between the lessons.

Good morning,
I get a lot of young people that come along to training with their parents asking "what is the best way for me to get involved with dog training?"
And my answer is ,if you want to be professional have the right certification and not from some obscure online "course", then I highly recommend that you look into the Royal Army Veterinary Corps .
With the RAVC, you not only learn about training dogs of all breeds and disciplines but, 1st aid, health and hygiene.
How to maintain and keep a fit and healthy dog.
And of course you will be awarded a certificate for each course that you successfully complete and pass.

I can't help but notice the amount of dog owners who never let their dogs off a lead or long line.
The all say that their dog has no recall and will run off.
Now , this isn't just pups, but dogs aged 2-5yrs old.
Those older dogs have never been allowed to run free, excise their muscle groups, grow strong bones and healthy lungs and heart.
It doesn't take long to train recall.
Lots of trainers out there that can help.
A good trainer can help you even if your dog is older than a puppy.
It is cruel not allowing your dog to run free.

Yet another first for us at Gardrum.
Meet 8 month old Hades , he is a Kangal.
The Kangal Shepherd Dog is a traditional Turkish breed of large livestock guardian dog.The breed name derives from that of the town and district of Kangal in Sivas Province, the easternmost province of the Central Anatolia Region in central Turkey. The coat colour varies from pale fawn to wolf grey, always with a black mask.

K9 DOWN - EOW 11-13-2024

On Wednesday, November 13th, at approximately 11pm, a Coweta County (GA) Deputy initiated a traffic stop. The driver refused to pull over, continuing into Fulton County reaching speeds of 110mph.

The Deputy performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle and deployed K9 Titan to assist in apprehending the driver. The driver opened fire at the Deputy who returned fire on the driver, striking him multiple times. Both the Deputy and K9 Titan were struck multiple times. The deputy suffered graze wounds from the bullets and tragically, K9 Titan was killed, pronounced dead on the scene. The Deputy was transported to the hospital and released. He is expected to make a full recovery. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

K9 Titan proudly served the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office for over five years. During his time, he successfully located several missing persons, identified illegal narcotics as well as assisted in the apprehension of multiple offenders.

Our deepest condolences go out to Titan's handler, Deputy Henderson, the department and all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace brave Titan. 💙

Yesterday Bonnie was pulling like a train, after her introductory lesson yesterday here is how she is this morning. Still a lot of work to be done ,but she is getting there.

Gundog compition 5/7 of July. All for charity Location St Austell. Dull details can be found on the Devon and Cornwall working gundog page. Morning all, this is going to be a cracker of a compition. We have several dogs that training with me that would be ideal for taking part in this competition in the novice category . Let me know by the end of this week if interested, do not be worried of failing. We will get together as a group and work on all the different parts of a working test. Buck the FRL was in this morning on his 2nd lesson of his 5 day course. What a dog, so fast to learn and all credit to his handler/owner Holly.

Afternoon I have a cracking 8yr old retired police dog looking for a relaxing and comfortable retirement home after 6 yrs working the streets. If you think you would like to give this lad a home then please contact me. Some experience of the breed is required. Whoever gives this boy a new home will get an hour training with me to introduce you to him and his training requirements.
