The Farting Dog

My labrador dog has farted
and made a rotten stink
He’s got my brain kerfuffled
and I’ve lost the power to think
We’ve opened all the windows
in a fit of shear despair
And we’re having palpitations,
trying to gulp in air

He has that look of innocence
as though butter wouldn’t melt
With no idea of what he’s done
and the panic that we felt
You never hear them coming,
there as silent as a tomb
But you know exactly what he’s
done when that odour fills the room

I know that he can’t help it
and its natural letting rip
But I think it gives him pleasure
when he lets the buggers slip
I get a sneaky feeling
he’s aware of what he’s done
Watching daddy suffering
looks to him like so much fun

There is something about dog farts
that is totally unique
Like causing mild paralysis
or the ability to speak
But to me this fella’s priceless
and you may think this absurd
If I blame him when I let one rip,
he never says a word.
