ππ₯³ππ₯³π MISSION SUCCESSFUL! π ππ₯³ππ₯³π
This is Leo. Over excited, over stimulated, lacking in focus Leo... but that was a few weeks ago!
Now, through a combination of new engagement regime, improved communication, and dedication from his owner, we have calm, focused, not-pulling-on-lead Leo π
Another win for the triple lock method, another win for an owner better able to communicate with their dog and - most importantly - another win for another calm, engaged and happy dog ππ»
So... how can we help you??
π₯³ππ₯³π SUCCESS!! π₯³ππ₯³π
Between Armistice Day, and Rememberance Sunday, I thought I'd share the progress that brilliant Boris has been making, with the help of some Cadets!
A very friendly dog, prone to over-excitement and forgetting his manners... clear guidance, and the persistence and hard work of his owner is really paying off!
Able to say hi to the whole line of Cadets, without getting into the face of any of them! (And we did buy a poppy to support the cause, of course!)
Many thanks to No19 Hailsham Platoon - Sussex Army Cadet Force (ACF) and 249 Hailsham (The Millennium) Sqn Royal Air Force Air Cadets for being willing stooges, and excellent representations of their respective organisations - and wonderful fundraisers to boot!

A little clip from a recent session with Leo. A few things to note;
- It was pouring down β outside. Training doesn't have to take load of space - you can achieve lots with less too!
- From a dog who struggled to listen and pay attention, to this; the first steps πΎ of walking to heel, listening and being calm.
- Start small, and communicate clearly, and just see what you can achieve π
... Look at the size of that smile from Leo's mum! πππ

Little Leo, learning some patience and to focus on what his handler is saying! π
'Wait', along with focus work, is very simple to say and initially apply, but they're the key foundations on which everything else we do is built. π
Early days, but he's grasped the initial concept - now we build on it πππ»
Doing nothing. It's a hugely underrated skill...
Boris LOVES people. Saying hi to everyone and everything was one of his central drivers, and something we had to re-direct to align his focus to his mum.
Mission successful! π

A sneak peek of the work we have been doing with Bella to overcome her entirely natural and very powerful urge to guard!
Her owner was really struggling - literally, physically struggling - to open the door without Bella forcing herself in the way, and in the face of anyone who came through the front door.
So, with focus on impulse control and clear instructions (still need to work on ensuring she is hearing and adhering to the command once and once only, but baby steps!) This is what we achieved.
It's amazing what you can achieve with consistency and clarity!

"She's got too much drive, you'll really struggle with her."
"You're really going to have your work cut out!"
Words from a trainer who previously worked with Tilly - and in so doing really concerned her owners.
If they couldn't get Tilly's energy and undirected enthusiasm under control, with the stress it was causing there was a real chance she was going to have to find a new home...
Well, this is after a few sessions to guide both dog and owner, and a consistent approach. Her first time being guided on agility equipment, and what a result!
Focus on her owner, impulse control to wait until released, listening to instructions at speed, and always choosing to stay close.
Win win win!
They now have the framework to continue having adventures with Tilly without the fear that she will aim for the horizon at every opportunity or be uncontrollable on the lead, with the option of more training of they wany to go to the next level.
Oh, and a new found love of agility!
Mission accomplished π

πππ PROGRESS SUCCESS! π πππ
This dog is a wonderful boy, but he has always had the same problem... people!
He LOVES people, and sticking his nose into everything. This led to frustration when he couldn't get to the people and things he wanted to; pulling on the lead and causing his owner stress.
We've worked really hard on his engagement and calm so, when we came across unexpected roadworks with noise, people, and distractions, we got... this.
Calm. Focused. Relaxed. A world away from where he was, just a few sessions ago. Not perfect, but SO much better than he's ever been.
This is why we do what we do π

ππ Training games = training gains pt 2! ππ
Getting focus and engagement in a controlled environment is one thing; the real test is out in the big wide world...
And I think we can safely say, passed with flying colours! Calm lead walking to heel, no stress, and actively choosing to look at her handler when the 4 wheeled distraction came along π
This is why we do what we do. Making life less stressful and more fun for everyone involved. How can we help you?!

A snapshot of some of the work we did in the most recent session with Tilly the Tornado!
From a dog who had little engagement with her owners outside the house, to this; listening intently to both humans, completely ignoring the weirdo with the camera making funny noises! π

ππππ BREAKTHROUGH!! ππππ
Progress looks different for different dogs... for some of our clients it's about pulling, or calm, or focus; for Bella, it's about managing her natural desire to play with everything, learning to curb her puppy mouthing / biting, which could already cause unintended damage - and only get worse as she develops.
Bella's incredibly toy driven - more so than food - so we've worked on building up her food desire as a training reward alongside her impulse control, and making it really clear and easy for her to understand what we want from her.
The result is in the video below; going from playing a game of tug, to CHOOSING to release her toy, and sitting and waiting calmly. Something that her owner was beginning to wonder would ever be achievable.
We've proven it's possible; now the key is to focus on refining and perfecting, alongside all the other areas of development for this very smart girl to learn - and in turn give her an outlet for her natural abilities and desire to work.
Well done Bella... keep up the great work! π

πππ Silent recall! πππ
Which, actually, is a bit of a misleading title, because I haven't recalled him at all - he's CHOSEN to come back because he couldn't see me. Which is even better!
Despite being surrounded by interesting things to look at. And smell. And investigate. And foxes to chase...
Top of his priority list is STILL me, despite me (intentionally) making no noise or giving him any encouragement.
There are 3 'check ins' he does in this video to ensure he knows where I am, and see if there are any instructions coming his way.
THIS is the benefit and result of focus work, driving eye contact in all things, and elevating engagement to an art form. They're the building blocks that make everything else possible.
Here's to giving dogs the tools to succeed and give you a stress-free walk... who's in?

Passion; purpose; progress!
Tiny Tasmanian Tilly has passion for life and fun coming out of her ears; she just needed to understand how to channel it into a purpose to start to become focused on the right things.
It's still an ongoing process, but she and her owners have made wonderful progress!

So, what did you do with your Friday evening?
We were working with a client on improving patience and impulse control, part of a wider piece of work to drive his engagement and focus with his owner, which is coming along nicely! π

What a difference a session makes! π
This lovely chap is excitable, loveable, and all about meeting people at any given opportunity. We worked with him to improve his focus and engagement with mum, ending with an outdoor walking demo.
No more pulling to get to the other people he could see or hear - even a weird bloke with a camera filming him! - and content to stay walk calmly.
It's only the first step, there's plenty more to do to really lock it all in - but both dog and handler did brilliantly!
Next session all booked in to continue our progress ππ»
