🧣❄️ Think fleas and ticks disappear in winter? Think again! 🐾

Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean your pets are safe from fleas and ticks. These pesky parasites can survive indoors and in sheltered outdoor spots—even in freezing temps!

🛑 Why stay vigilant?
- Fleas can thrive in warm homes and lay eggs in carpets, bedding, and furniture.
- Ticks hide in leaf litter and tall grass, waiting for a host—even during mild winter days.
- Pets can still pick up parasites on walks or in the garden.

✅ Winter protection tips:
- Continue year-round flea and tick prevention treatments.
- Check your pets regularly, especially after outdoor adventures.
- Keep your home clean and vacuum often to eliminate hidden eggs.

Your furry friends deserve a parasite-free season—don’t let winter lull you into a false sense of security! 🐶🐱💙

Smwddio & Mwnci spent a day each with us last week and this week, during their stay they both were neutered.

As you can see from the images they both have very playful characteristics!

❄️ Cold Weather Is Coming — Keep Your Pets Cozy & Safe! 🐾

This is Saturn demonstrating that you can still look cool in rainy weather😍🐾

As the temperatures drop, our furry friends need a little extra care to stay warm and healthy. Whether your pet loves the outdoors or is entering their golden years, here are some essential tips to keep them safe this season:

🐕 For Outdoor Pets:
- Provide a dry, insulated shelter that’s off the ground and protected from wind.
- Ensure fresh, unfrozen water is always available.
- Increase food portions slightly—staying warm burns extra calories!
- Watch for signs of frostbite or hypothermia: shivering, lethargy, or pale skin.

🐶 For Senior Pets:
- Keep them indoors as much as possible—cold weather can worsen arthritis.
- Use pet-safe heating pads or cozy bedding to ease joint pain.
- Schedule a winter wellness check to monitor mobility and overall health.
- Avoid icy paths—slips can lead to serious injuries.

🧣 Bonus Tip: If it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for them. When in doubt, bring them inside!

Let’s make this winter a safe and snuggly one for all our beloved companions. If you have questions or need advice tailored to your pet, give us a call on 01495616656 or stop by the clinic!

🐶🐱💊 Antibiotic Resistance Week — What Pet Owners Should Know 💊🐱🐶

Did you know that antibiotic resistance affects animals too — including your beloved pets?

When bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, common infections in dogs, cats, and other animals become harder to treat. That means longer recovery times, more vet visits, and fewer treatment options.

🦠 Here’s how you can help protect your pet and others:
- ✅ Only give antibiotics prescribed by your vet — never share or reuse old meds
- ✅ Follow the full course, even if your pet seems better
- ✅ Keep up with vaccinations and regular checkups to prevent infections
- ✅ Practice good hygiene — clean bowls, bedding, and litter boxes regularly

Antibiotics are precious. Let’s use them wisely to keep our furry friends healthy for years to come.

🌍🐾 Animal Diabetes Day 🐾🌍

Today, we shine a light on a condition that affects not only humans but our beloved pets too — diabetes. From cats and dogs to horses and even ferrets, animals can develop diabetes and need just as much care, compassion, and awareness.

💙 Let’s raise our voices for early detection, proper treatment, and ongoing support for animals living with diabetes.

📣 Share your story, spread the word, and help others recognize the signs: increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, and lethargy.

Together, we can make a difference — one paw at a time. 🐶🐱🐴
