Valley View Equestrian Ltd BHS approved seven and five day livery yard situated in a secluded valley on the outskirts of Lytchett Matravers.

We like to do all we can for our guys to make their job easier and we know they’ll back us on that!

Ps did we also mention there is minimal sweeping on the yard as we’ve got a blower 😏 (more about that life and time saver another day)

So when a rough suggestion came in on a possible hay trolley - we thought okay 20+ horses to hay AM and top ups as/when needed it’s a valid idea🤔…then we hit a snag our “speed bumps” into our barns (no we aren’t building ramps) so that was out the window.

We did however want to share the expert diagram drawn up to depict why it wouldn’t work - enjoy 😆

It’s random acts of kindness day today and with that in mind it was lovely to receive a message out the blue from one of our longstanding liveries today 💕

It’s lovely to feel appreciated and we know we are…but this little extra something really goes a long way and gave us all such a boost today 🤗

Guess what season we’re in…abscess season! Whilst it is unfortunate it provides a valuable learning experience for our apprentice Hannah and groom Ellie to get to grips with foot anatomy and really pin down their poulticing skills - whilst getting a lovely stinky surprise 😅

STAFF TAKE OVER

It might have gone unnoticed by some (not the fact that it’s Christmas) but that it’s the boss man’s birthday 🎉
It seems all the best people are born on Christmas Day!

But we felt it was important to recognise Scott Etches on his day, and for how much he does that goes unsung.

As a small team we share all the best and worst moments together - crying, laughing, wins, losses, high and lows, grafting and at times turning the impossible into possible (one thing we all have in common is a very distinct inability to make ourselves lunch - by 10AM collectively we’ve usually decided where we’re all going for lunch and what we’re having!
We’re all say for our New Year’s resolution we’re start making lunch…but we won’t, we never will, we like our Tesco meals deals too much!

You work tirelessly to create an environment for everyone to feel seen, supported, and confident you actively encourage new ideas and suggestions from all of the team (something that is wildly refreshing in an age old industry).

You are compassionate and understanding during difficult times and you just get it - you just get it, that sometimes life happens and when it does you step in to offer additional support.

There is not one day that goes by that collectively we aren’t laughing at something and there is never a day that actually feels like “work”, never a day that we dread seeing the boss man - we aren’t sure there’s many employers out there that can say that their staff actually miss them on their days off…not many at all!

We’re sure at times you must sit in quiet contemplation (peek the chair photo) and watch us all yabbering on thinking who an earth do I employ they’re all mental - but having you as the boss really does make us the happiest bunch we ever could be at work.

You work tirelessly to make Valley View a place where people want to be, where we want to be, to create a sense of community something that not many yards have!

None of this would be possible without you Scott - absolutely none of it.

So from all the team - 🎉HAPPY BIRTHDAY🎉 and THANK YOU 💕

▪️Valley View Equestrian Ltd is a BHS Highly Commended livery yard offering Five day and Seven day livery packages and services. We are set in in a quiet and secluded valley on the outskirts of Lytchett Matravers.

▪️We currently cater to retirees and up to 2* event horses alongside those on long term medication/medical needs and are very adapt at tailoring our care to meet any and all needs.

▪️ Stables are situated in our spacious American barns that are light and airy accompanied by deep straw or shavings beds.

▪️Bimonthly decontamination/disinfectant of all stables and shared spaces by Ag+ Biosecurity specialists.

▪️ Summer and winter turnout (group/individual) - we pride ourselves on our field management, all grazing is rotated/rested and routinely poo picked.
Fields are securely fenced with mains electric and automatic water troughs.

▪️ Solarium and hot wash bay - the solarium is equipped with drying heat lamps and infrared bulbs to warm muscles before/after work.

▪️ 60mx20m Fibremix arena with floodlights and mirrors with exclusive use of show jumps.

▪️ 20m floodlit daytrack round pen and private grass gallops.

▪️ Our private gallops are open all year round and once harvest is completed our crop fields are also then opened up for private riding.

▪️ During the drier summer months our jumps are moved into a spacious grass field set up as a full course.

▪️ Reduced cost of using our partnered cross country course Stour XC , only 10 minutes drive away from the yard.

▪️ Staff are qualified first aiders, hold safe guarding certification, professional qualifications and real industry experience.

▪️ Our owner Scott - Head coach/rider and our yard manager, Aimee, a previous 4* groom work closely with owners to ensure all horses individual needs are met alongside our other experienced grooms. Our team combines 30 years of experience within the industry to bring your horses the very best quality of care.

▪️ We support owners of all abilities and create a welcoming, calm and supportive environment for you and your horse to enjoy and relax during your time with us.

We’re all about celebrating the good things here and today was one of those moments 🙌.

An exciting day today as Ellie our full time groom officially took on Rocco.

Ellie has shown real commitment in her role with us and is making great strides in growing her professional skill set and working towards her future goals - one to watch out for in the future.

Now time for some winter training with Rocco ready for the summer!

A very big well done and congratulations to our apprentice Hannah on her recent award at her local riding club, we’re all very proud of your achievements with Chester 🏆

Hannah recently started her Grooms Apprenticeship with us via Haddon Training Limited and she has quickly become a valued member of the team.

Hannah has all the attributes needed to succeed and is very quickly becoming a very promising young professional 🙌 British Grooms Association

It’s no secret that working in the industry is hard but what should not be hard is obtaining legal employment from your employer.

We are proud members of Equestrian Employers showcasing the forwards for all employers in the equestrian sector and actively encourage all staff to become members of the British Grooms Association

BGA recently published their results from a study on the effects of poor employment on grooms the findings are sobering -

❗️65% of respondents said poor working conditions
were directly linked to their anxiety.

❗️55% are suffering with depression.

❗️54% are experiencing anger and frustration.

❗️43% have experienced bullying in the workplace.

This is not the future we want for our industry nor is it the future we want for any groom…it is time for change.

The entire team here at VVE owner, manager and grooms alike work hard to raise awareness to any students we take for work experience from school and college.

We speak to them at length on their rights such as employment contracts, holiday entitlement, pensions, rates of pay and the differences between employed and self employed to better educate them for when they enter the world of work.

As a responsible employer we are 100% onboard with Good Employment Week 🌟

A big thank you to Gail from Ag+ who visited us recently to disinfect our stables and shared spaces such as the hot wash and solarium.

Here at Valley View we strive to create the optimal environment for the health of our horses.
We believe this is the next important step in reinforcing our bio security.

This was our first big spray so we got a lot of reactions check out the fizz!…but not for much longer as we are now on scheduled sprays with Gail so we will see less reactions over time 🙌.

The fizz really allows the unseen to be seen and helped us to identify areas of build up that we can target between our scheduled visits with our hand sprayer from Ag+.

When the EndoSan finds pathogen build up the fizz begins!
It works by breaking down and neutralising these nasties such as viruses and bacteria 🦠

Disinfectant can seem a scary word when used in conjunction with horses as you automatically think of harsh chemicals but with Ag+ EndoSan that isn’t the case!
