South Coast Dogs celebrated its 1st Birthday this weekend just gone 🥳🐾❤️. My business idea began in my time working in Rescue kennels, I look back fondly on my time working for the RSPCA and will always be extremely thankful for all of the training and experience I gained whilst there which has helped me greatly in my first year as a self employed Dog Walker…Having a deeper understanding of dog behaviour and training certainly has come in handy at times 😜. My clients (and their four legged friends!) are fantastic, thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support for South Coast Dogs and for putting your trust in me to care for your beloved dogs, I have enjoyed getting to know them all very well 🐾❤️. This past twelve months we’ve seen freezing conditions, Gail force winds, lots of torrential rain, heat waves and even some flooding but we’ve got through it all! I’ve also met some fantastic other local self employed Dog walkers who have grown to become friends, shout out to all of you amazing women. You’re all an inspiration ❤️. Seeing dogs happy, healthy and enriched never fails to put the biggest smile on my face. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me and my little business 🐾 🐶 🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶 #selfemployed #dogwalker #happybirthday

March 1st through to 31st of July marks the time of year where we see ‘dogs on lead’ restrictions come into place across our Heathlands in order to protect ground nesting birds. #dogwalkerlife

⭐️Throwback Thursday!⭐️This time last year I was asked to appear on @skynews to help beautiful Bella in her search for her forever home and a family that loved her as much as myself and my colleagues did! Bella soon found the perfect family who adored her and she has gone onto thrive in her new home. Photo’s of her were even selected to be featured on @marksandspencer Christmas cards this year! I’m truly grateful that I am still able to work in rescue and help other animals in need whilst running my own business doing what I love! #rspca #dogwalking #dogwalker
How lovely is this personalised decoration from The Crafting Corner ❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️. What a lovely gift thank you Shannon!
Sometimes the little things that can be inconvenient on your dog walks can be turned into a positive training opportunity.

What is Force Free Training?
Force free training means exactly that, no force or punishment is used to train your dog. Force and punishment can be defined as yanking or checking a lead, using verbal or physical punishment, or even worse using training collars that buzz, make a noise or give the dog an electric shock, these are not methods that I personally agree with.
Guiding Dogs to make the right choices on walks (and rewarding them heavily for doing so) is called Choice training, it involves catching actions and behaviors that you like in your dog and marking them with rewards your dog finds motivating. These actions and behaviors can then become your dog’s ‘default’ behaviors that he or she can choose to use in certain situations. This in turn helps to give your dog a confidence and reassurance when out on walks.
All of my experience and training has been Force free and in a style that uses the Choice method. It’s how I’ve trained my dog Dora and the many I have worked with previously, I find it a very fulfilling way to work and a brilliant way to bond with dogs. #dog #dogwalker #dogs #dogsofinstagram #dogtraining #forcefreetraining #positive #bournemouth #poole #dogtraining
