Just a quick Christmas update and work update. This year for Christmas rather than send cards and gifts to you and your gorgeous girls/boys, I am going to make a donation to a shelter in North Cyprus that is overwhelmed with equally gorgeous dogs and puppies but gets very little help. To be honest it keeps me awake at night and I feel in comparison our dogs (and us) are very privileged to enjoy the comforts we have. I hope you understand.
I thank you for your support and trusting me with your lovely dogs this year, I am very grateful.
Work wise it looks like I may be able to continue through January, I will keep you posted as things progress.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and wish you all a very Happy New Year. Love Jacs and Ed xx

Blue-Green Algae = 🤢🐶
Look out for and keep dogs away from a blue-green scum that appears on the surface of water such as rivers, lakes and ponds, it usually appears after a warm spell.

Sadly, exposure to toxic blue-green algae can be fatal and can also cause long term health problems in dogs that survive after drinking or swimming in algae-contaminated water.
If you suspect your dog has been in contact with blue-green algae or shows any of the below symptoms after drinking from, swimming or paddling in water, contact your vet.
🚱 Vomiting/being sick
🚱 Diarrhoea
🚱 Disorientation/confusion/loss of balance
🚱 Drooling
🚱 Breathing difficulties
🚱 Seizures/fitting/tremors
🚱 Weakness/collapse/unconsciousness

You may have seen various social media posts around rapeseed and your dogs. These posts are mentioning blindness, nerve damage and extreme burning.

The truth? Most dogs have no symptoms after exposure to rapeseed and none are life threatening.
If your dog has ingested some of the plant, they may develop a stomach upset and dogs sensitive to rapeseed may develop skin reactions which look like burns after contact with the plant. BUT This is extremely rare!

It is sensible to not let your dog run through crops, as it can damage the crop, disturb nesting birds and can irritate their eyes and skin.

If your pet has consumed something you think may be toxic, contact us for advice.
