We all highly recommend Blessed Wellness Studio and the lovely Leanne for the wonderful, relaxing day we spent there. Totally chilled and an amazing, personal experience with sound baths, reflexology and massage, not to mention some mindful activities and a fantastic lunch πŸ’―

Cat grooming is a very specific skill. They are creatures that are so very different from any other animals you may groom. They are more mobile and bendy, more unpredictable, have more weapons of choice and their skin is paper thin.

When you receive training to be a cat groomer, you should be taught how to handle the cat humanely and carefully. Scruffing a cat, dangling it in the air or pinning it to a table are all very wrong and outdated, not to mention cruel ways of handling a cat. Do you want to finish the groom no matter what, no matter how your actions impact the cat, their stress and their reaction to the grooming process, or do you want to encourage the cat to accept the grooming process and take things at the cats pace?

That right there will help you choose the right training environment.

We NEVER scruff (after kittenhood this hurts the cat). We NEVER dangle (why would you and this causes way more risk of injury) and we never pin it to a table (not exactly encouraging the cat to accept grooming).

There are cat grooming 'trainers' out there who teach these outdated methods. We are not like them. We are holistic, caring and encouraging. We do not force groom.

So please do your research properly. Just because they may be an approved centre for qualifications does not mean they teach the correct methods. Ask for a taster session. See how the cat is handled and then make up your mind.

However, a happy content cat will accept the grooming process. A scared cat WILL hurt you.
