I have 3 adult boys looking for a new home, they are all friendly but will need a more confident home as Ace can be a bit hand shy :) Sanji is a massive sweetie and Geralt is just lovely :) we have Straw Hats Portgas D. Just a cute little dumbo doe from the Acies litter 🥺 babies are growing fast, we had some losses in the Sannies litter and we only have 3 does remaining. But the Mum is doing well, she's back with her friends and Sabi has taken her three beans under her wing :) Sabi is a very relaxed Mum, happy for me to peel the kittens of her whilst she's feeding when I need to do eye drops for one of her babies 😂 she seems to be living motherhood ❤️

I know a few people popped me messages lately with regards to kittens and I have been awful at replying. I get quite a lot messages so I don't regularly check my inbox, the best way to make sure you get considered for any of my babies is to fill in the form. I don't tend to check them very regularly but I will check them prior to assigning kittens and will invite everyone to the group before that too. So as long as I have your form filled in you will be able to express interest in current litters. My next litters are planned for early New Year so if you don't be assigned kittens there's a good chance you may get them from next litters. I also cooperate with Shannah at Storm in a Teacup so she may have some kittens available too :)

Acies are doing fabulous and growing fast :) they are 9 days old now and have entered velvet hippos stage now :) they are all black and we have 5 dumbo does, 3 top eared does and 2 top eared bucks :)

Last Sunday we have also welcomed Sannies. Bonnie didn't have an easy birth but we have 5 perfect fattos growing super fast now :) we have 4 top eared does and 1 top eared buck :) considering she felt very rough herself, Bonnie is doing a fabulous job and taking great care of her beans. She does have a bit of temporary hate for me though as I have been forcing down horrible tasting antibiotics and palpating her all over whenever I have a chance 😂

On Wednesday night we have welcomed Abies litter :) there's 8 does and 2 boys in both top and dumbo ears. Sabi is a fantastic mum so far, all babies have very fat bellies and look all nice and healthy :)

Bonnie is looking very promising so finger crossed she'll have safe delivery within the next couple days 🤞🤞🤞

On another note - I know I have received a lot of messages and emails lately and I've not replied to any. I'm sorry, I'm just really not great at social media at the moment but I will find some time to go through it and reply to you all :)

Hi guys :) I'm going to have a couple of adult does, 18 months old, come back to me as current (fabulous may I add) owner is not planning to keep more rats and felt girls would do much better in a home with other rats :) if you are interested in taking some oldies please let me know and I can send you some photos and have a chat with you :)

Girls are Russian buff roan dumbo and topaz roan which effectively are white. One of them, Dimple, was injured at birth so she doesn't have one of her eyes, it never stopped her from being the most amusing and mischievous as a kitten. Buttons has recently had a glaucoma come up - it seems that it's asymptomatic which they often are in rats. I'll try to link the original post with more information :).

My second buck keeper is agouti silken. He is not as strongly expressing as Jafar but he is still beautiful and has lovely temperament :)

I'm so excited to announce my first keeper from the silken litters :D do the first boy is a black silken, her is absolutely lovely and sweet ❤️ I'm very excited to see how his silkening progresses with his age ❤️

I have been utterly hopeless with updating you guys about current litters! But they are doing very well - we have Sujis which are from Zephyr Ursula The Sea Witch to Straw Hats Jinbe The Sea Knight pairing and Hawlies which are from Zephyr Maleficent The Fallen Fairy to Arkenstone Dracule Mihawk. They are all over 3 weeks old, there is 13 Sujis and 16 Hawlies and they are growing fast! Video of their first free roam couple days ago and another from when I merged the litters and made up a bit more fun cage for them :) enjoy :D

I have been quite a bit busy lately so haven't had a second to share the great news - our first silken litters have been born and they are doing fantastic so far ❤️

The first litter to introduce are Sujis - a pairing of Zephyr Ursula The Sea Witch and Straw Hat Rats Jinbe The Sea Knight. They were born on 9th of May and they've grown super fast! We have 7 silkens and 6 standard rats in black and agouti :) I'm so very proud of how well Suli is doing, she's done a great job as a Mum so far ❤️

In the photos you can see the comparison on black silken to a black kitten and the same with agouti :)

Big day today Jellies and Enollys have been merged, their setup has been upgraded to slow them to climb and play safely and they also had their first free roam! A lot of excitement and happy rats here :) Jinas have opened their eyes over the weekend and soon will also join the big kittens cage :)

Jellies are growing super fast and super cute! Don't get fooled by the photo, there are still 10 of them, 4 Russian buffs, 1 Russian Dove and 5 Russian Blues. They are nearing the time when they'll open their eyes and the real fun will begin :)

On Saturday Jinas have joined our born litters! Edna gave birth to 11 babies, some a bit bruised with one bean having quite severely bruised face. So far he's doing great and nursing well. Given Edna and Jinbe are both dumbos we are expecting full dumbo litter with varieties being black, Russian blue, Russian buff and buff. This is our third and last expected litter, bringing the tally to 32 kittens born 😂 I don't think we are likely ever to repeat this 😂

Being Edna's and Jinbe's babies they of course don't line up 🤦‍♀️😂

On Thursday we welcomed our 2nd litter - Enollys! Holly gave birth to 11 lovely beans, we expect buff and black in this litter :) very excited to see how these guys grow ❤️

Say hello to Jellies! Born on Monday, 10 beans and they are doing amazingly so far :)

Parents are Straw Hat Rats Lily Enstomach and Straw Hat Rats Jinbe the Sea Knight. We expect Russian blue and Russian buff in this litter :)

It's very exciting to have babies again and I'm very proud of how well Lily is doing as a Mum :)

We had a very exciting day yesterday! Still quite a bit in shock over how well Straw Hats did at Banbury show ❤️

Straw Hats Jinbe The Sea Knight won Best Adult Owned Pet and then Best Pet! I honestly can't believe how well he has done! He also won 2nd Best Dumbo which I am extremely pleased with 🙂

Straw Hats Lily Enstomach won Best Russian, Best Novice and Reserve Best In Show!!! She also earned a special on the Pet show for being an Acro-rat! Well impressed with how well she did ❤️ she is a wonderful doe and I am very excited for her pairings :D

Zephyr Ursula The Sea Witch has placed 4th in Provisional Standard which I am extremely pleased with as she is currently extremely moulty 😂 Straw Hat Holly placed 4th in Self section. Straw Hat Coën only placed in silver but still had a really nice critique from both judges.

We are halfway to becoming a Stud ❤️❤️❤️ enjoy the photos of my little winners ❤️

I had a pretty amazing time on Saturday when I attended the May Hill show :) I was a pet steward and enjoyed it immensely - I usually focus a lot of my attention on varieties so it was nice to do something else! I do need to attend a show when I don't do any show work although honestly, I just enjoy it too much!

It was a very large show and a lot was happening. I managed to say hello to some of my friends but didn't spend nearly enough time with everyone. I have really enjoyed seeing everyone though ❤️ the judges were just amazing - it's actually pretty spectacular when you've seen how many rats they both had to judge ❤️

We have again done quite well :D given how big the entry was I feel extremely happy with how well everyone has done!

Straw Hat Rats Holly's Little Troublemaker won Best Self and was 3rd in Pet Supreme Challenge (3rd Best Pet :) ), she earned two stars in pets :D
Straw Hat Rats Coën of Poviss did very well in AOV class coming 1st in silver, 2nd in AOV adult and 3rd in AOV Challenge :) he also came in 3rd in Stud Buck Challenge out of 38 boys! He earned two stars in Varieties :D
Straw Hat Rats Edna Mode won best self dumbo, 2nd Adult Dumbo and came 4th in Novice Challenge :) she also earned herself 2 stars on Varieties
Straw Hat Rats Lily Enstomach won Best Russian Blue however I am missing a card for her 😂

The rat room has gotten an upgrade and I'm loving it ❤️ the free roam has suffered a bit and I'm working on making it better but it's much easier to keep tidy and organised :) I am always happy to show how I keep my rats and everything about their care - transparency and honesty in breeders is definitely something I value greatly! So don't be afraid to ask questions :)

I have realised I have been to two shows recently and haven't actually posted at all about it 😂. So let's update you all!

We attended London Champs on Sunday 10.10.21 and our rats did pretty well.

Straw Hat Rats Lily Enstomach placed 2nd best russian out of 10 rats in the class :)
Straw Hat Rats Coën of Poviss was 4th best AOV out of 21 rats in the class :)
Straw Hat Rats Jinbe the Sea Knight was 4th in dumbo kitten challenge out of 5 kittens in the class :)
Straw Hat Rats Holly's Little Troublemaker was 1st buff but she was also the only buff entered 😂

Yesterday we attended Theale Show. It was truly lovely,.I was stewarding for varieties judge and learned loads! I entered in both varieties and pets and we actually did pretty good!

Straw Hat Rats Lily Enstomach did extremely well coming 2nd best Russian and 3rd in Supreme Challenge (out of 31 rats)!!! She had won herself two stars 😱❤️ she was also 2nd Best Novice ❤️ I am stupidly proud of how well she did ❤️

Straw Hat Rats Jinbe The Sea Knight has won Reserve Best Pet in Pets and Best Dumbo in Varieties earning himself one star ❤️ the lovely pet judge loved him and his very silly personality!

Straw Hat Rats Holly's Little Troublemaker was 3rd Best Per, 1st Adult Owned Doe in Pets and Best Self in Varieties! The pet judge loved her ❤️

Straw Hat Rats Edna Mode came 2nd in Adult Owned Doe in Pets.

Straw Hat Rat Coën of Poviss came first silver, he was the only one in the class ;)

Zephyr Ursula The Sea Witch came 4th in Provisional Standard

It was a very successful day for Straw Hat Rats and we couldn't be prouder of how well they did :) May Hill couldn't come fast enough ❤️

Exciting times here at Straw Hat Rats - we are starting a new line - russian silkens :)

With foundations from Zephyr Rat Stud and Arkenstone Rats we are off to a good start :) my Arkenstone boys have been introduced a while ago. The time has come that my Zephyr girls have made it here :D

So say hello to Zephyr Maleficent The Fallen Fairy aka Mali and Zephyr Ursula the Sea Witch aka Suli , both agouti silkens :D we are smitten with them ❤️

As a lot of you know I'm a big fan of showing! The reason for that is not that I like to win in particular (although that's always a nice bonus) but because of all the feedback I get on my rats as well as the hands on experience I get on the day.

Breeding is not as easy as people assume. Yeah, you can just put two rats together and hope for the best but it's not an attitude I'd deem particularly ethical. There's a lot of planning, matching the rats and assessing them when choosing who to pair and who to keep (plus the admin work which we all hate 😂). Getting feedback on the rats you breed is invaluable to ensure good decision making. Through the Covid pandemic it has been particularly difficult as shows were not running and photos don't always show things you need to take into account such as body type. Being able to feel how other people's rats feel is probably the best way to learn how good, muscly rat should feel like.

The good news is - the shows have started again and I had absolute pleasure to attend and steward for varieties judge at Tempsford Show last Sunday :) I got some great critique and things to consider to when picking my next pairings :) We have placed in few classes which some were by default and some head a bit more competition :) Overall I'm so happy I got to see some of my amazing friends and spend a day looking and talking about rats ❤️
