Today 2 different members of the public saw Hugos yellow nervous sticker and gave us more space. This is the first time in my dog walking career that someone has done this and we have walked this lad every day for many years. This made me realise that many people arent aware of the colour code for dogs. So just incase you weren't aware a yellow sticker, lead or collar with the words nervous on, means the dog may need a bit more space that usual.

It's yet another hot week. We will do earlier walks in the shade where we will sit with water, they will be shorter than usual. We will priorities the spaces on the morning walk but cannot guarantee everyone the morning. We highly recommend cancelling your walk. For dogs home alone we are happy to do home visits to let your dog out for a toilet break. We want what's best for your pup.

No dog died from missing a walk.

Our lovely friend Lauren from Hounds for Heroes is looking for local volunteers to take in puppies to start off their training journey. The pups will become assistance dogs for disabled people from the armed forces and blue light services.

Volunteer puppy parents will be supported with training classes and costs are covered by the charity.

Go along to Eastney Community Centre next week to find out more.

Our Mission

At Muddy Hounds of Portsmouth, we maintain the highest standards of care to provide the best service to your pets. Our devoted and attentive staff go above and beyond making sure your companion receives the best welfare and feels like part of our family!

I am the manager of Muddy Hounds of Portsmouth. I've been running the company for over a year and absolutely love my job. Before Muddy Hounds I was a joiner which I really enjoyed but animals have always been a true passion of mine so I went back to college to study animal management. I walked away in 2015 with a HND level 5! Since then I carried on my carpentry but worked weekends in Emsworth aquira and reptiles. This has given me a specialist knowledge in reptile and fish keeping. May 2018 I was given the opportunity to become manager of muddy hounds and jumped at the opportunity. It has been the best decision i have ever made. - Laura

I've owned dogs my whole life. I currently have two collies called coco and timma. I love taking them down to the beach after work. They are my world! I wanted to work with dogs because they are such a passion of mine so I got an apprenticeship working with a local daycare where I completed my NVQ level 2 in animal management. Joining the muddy hounds team is a brilliant opportunity for me to put in to practice all the skills I have learnt about dog behaviour, sociology and general care. - Kayley Pepall
