This is Saffi, one of our dogs. She is a 12 year old rescue staffy x jack x collie, but she has a really long back and little legs, and due to her structure has gotten stiffer through her hips and stifles in the last few months.
I have previously been unable to swim her as she is not suitable for pool only, but now the adjustable internal platform is finished, she got to test it out!
She does not normally like water but as you can see the benefit of the platform is it gives water phobic dogs some confidence, and she looks super happy and comfortable here.
She certainly was a spring chicken when she woke up the next day and has been running around on her walks much more than usual - and that's why I love my job ๐
Bramble a lovely Labrador who Is coming for fun and fitness but also learning how to swim! She was very unsure at first, especially as she doesnโt like harnesses, but we took our time and a lot of sweeties later the harness was on and she was in the pool!
Thank you all so much for your support so far!
Here is a snippet of what you can expect from a fun and fitness session ๐พ๐ถ๐ฆ
Here's a first look at our fabulous pool now it's finished!
We have a 2m x 4m pool and within it an underwater table/platform the length of one side. This platform is used to give dogs confidence instead of swimming and to offer a more controlled workout at a set depth and a pace I can choose. There is an easy access ramp in and out of the pool with high grip rubber on all areas of access.
Prices are ยฃ30 per session or ยฃ270 for a block of 10 for a rehabilitation program.
Fun & Fitness swims are ยฃ25 per session (multi dog households/agility clubs/flyball teams please enquire for discounts on multi dog sessions and block bookings) these can be tailored to your very bespoke needs alongside the aims and ambitions for your dog.
Now the boring bit - Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 under The Veterinary Surgeons (Exemptions) Order 2015, an animal therapist can only treat animals by veterinary referral. Hydrotherapists act under the same rules. So in order for you to use our facilities you must complete a veterinary referral form or a fit to swim form.
I can help with these forms and email them directly to the vet with owner consent.
