Hope all your pets are ok this evening…a tough night for some pets and their owners😢

Here’s come helpful tips:

🎶 CLASSIC FM - will be playing relaxing pet music tonight from 5pm. Alternatively pop the tv or radio on louder than normal.

💡 Lights on, blinds and curtains drawn.

🥵 Make you home as warm and comfortable as possible, perhaps have a blanket to cover your pet or cuddle on the sofa.

💊 For those who have Dorwest Valerian this should be given approx 30 minutes before the chaos begins.

Lexi, Vinnie and Rosie have had their Valerian, let’s hope they stay cuddled up and calm 🤞🏼

It’s Saturday night and the fireworks have started. All 3 of our dogs have had a dose of Valarian compound and already beginning to settle thankfully, it really is good stuff 🎇👍🏼

Valarian Compound takes effect after 30 mins and will last several hours.

⚠️ FOUND 🐶 Drake - Black Lab (Carr Lane, Hambleton) ⚠️

UPDATE 2: Drake has turned up at a farm. The owners are now going to collect him. Thank you to everyone that shared our post. Amazing news 🐶👍🏼

UPDATE: 1 lab has been found, however Drake is still out there somewhere. (There has been a black lab found in Stalmine however this is not Drake).

We believe he must be in the wooded area or one of the larger gardens the the left of Carr Lane if facing towards Stalmine, these garden would lead up towards Wardy’s Creek, Brickhouse Cottages/Lakeside Kitchen.

Yora v’s Rosie - Update on our first blog!

Our advice when changing foods or eliminating a protein source from a pet’s diet is always to give it 3 weeks before evaluating the situation!

In our eyes this is always a good starting point before introducing medication or going down the route of intolerance tests and/or blood tests.

This is exactly what we have done whilst trialling Yora insect food. We are 3 weeks in and this is our honest review…

We started with a 2kg bag, we knew that this would only give us a weeks worth of food but we thought it was the safest option to make sure it was palatable, rather than jump in with both feet and commit to a 6kg or 12kg bag. After a matter of days we could already see that Rosie’s paws appeared to be drying out and when we rubbed our fingers over the bald patches we could feel some hair regrowth. This honestly felt such a relief after battling this for so long, trying various foods including, raw and kibble.

The photos below show Rosie’s paws. To us they look so so much better in a short space of time. As a result we committed to a further larger bag of Yora and also introduced Yora treats so that Rosie no longer had to miss out on the treats that Lexi & Vinnie have.

The treats are all created with the same insect proteins so that nothing new is being introduced into the diet. We trialled the Yora Dentasticks and the Yora Dreamers, these are small treats, moon and star shaped and contain camomile, lemon balm and valerian, these three ingredients create a calming treat. We’ve used these as a little bedtime treat, in fact all 3 of the dogs have had these and seem to enjoy them. Photos can be seen below.

So, let’s talk about the back end!
What goes in must come out! Not a great subject but essential for some dog owners to know! Again, so far, all rather positive, we’ve not had any belly troubles at all, we’ve not had loose bowel movements, nor have we had any problems trying to go….just ‘normal’.

So, what are our plans now?

We know that at any point allergies, intolerances or reactions to food or atmospheric issues can reoccur without warning and at anytime. This will always be a frustration when a dog has sensitities. However that said while the going is good we are going to continue with Yora for Rosie, continue with another big bag and continue with the treats.

It’s worth mentioning that throughout the trial process we have not used any medications, creams, shampoos, but most importantly we have not given any other foods or treats that could affect this trail period.

Would we recommend Yora?

Yes, we would. If you are in a position where you have tried everything and feel that you’re smacking your head against a brick wall, like we were then Yora is definitely a great lifeline to try.

The Yora Nutrionalist has offered to come into store to train all our staff on the insect based foods and the benefits of the products, how they can help etc. In the meantime if you have any questions or would like to try a sample please feel free to contact us or pop in store and we’ll organise a small sample for your dog to try.

So, here goes…a Wyre Pets Blog!

We’re going to do something a little bit different, something personal to us and hopefully our journey will help others…

If you have a dog with allergies, needing a low protein diet or suffering from Pancreatitis you need to carry on reading this blog!!!!

Rosie our Vizsla was one of the pups from our last litter. It’s a bit of a bad house at our house as we also own Mum, Lexi and Dad, Vinnie (both Vizsla’s). Both Lexi and Vinnie have absolutely no intolerances that we are aware of, nor did Rosie until she turned 2. After Rosie’s 2nd birthday she struggled with itching ears which escalated and her front two feet stated to go bald, inflamed and infected.

We instantly removed all chicken from her diet, with no difference, we went poultry free, still no difference, we tried various red meats, both raw and kibble with very little improvements at all. After exhausting all our pet nutritional knowledge we took some of Rosie’s hair samples and sent off one of our Wyre Pets Intolerances Kits. The kits test for over 200 food intolerances and 100 atmospheric intolerances.

The results came back, wow, quite frankly, Rosie seemed to be intolerant to life, even down to the cotton bed she slept on!

Without hesitation we made all the necessary changes, we did begin to see some improvements…fantastic news!!! The only downside was that her diet had become so specific that we had concerns that she wasn’t getting a balanced diet at all.

This brings us up to this week ⬇️

A NEW, YET RADICAL LIFELINE FOR ROSIE… this is something I’ve heard all about in the past and I have to admit I have been totally dismissive of it until now! This is where you’ll think that I’ve totally lost the plot 🤣 I’ve introduced Rosie to Yora, an insect powered superfood, yes you read that right, it’s insect based, sounds disgusting right? 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣 Rosie is currently trying both the wet food and kibble and she is absolutely devouring it. She isn’t much of a foody, especially in the morning. Most days she won’t even get out of bed to even look at her food, but after popping her bowl down with Yora kibble, with a wet topper she can’t get to her bowl quick enough!

We’re only on week one, so too early to see any improvements as yet in relation to her intolerances, but I have to admit seeing her enjoy her food and to be enthusiastic about food again is a brilliant start.

We’ll keep you updated on her journey over the next few weeks. We’ll also include some before and after photos of Rosie’s paws 🐾
