Calling all horse, donkey and mule owners across the UK

Our friends at NEWC have launched an important new survey to find out how the current economic climate is affecting equine owners and keepers 🐴

I've seen a lot of people on bitless pages asking about fit of a bitless bridle, and much of the time the noseband is too low, so I thought this visual might be of help!

As you can see, this skull is missing much of the nasal bone due to it being so fragile it has broken off. The nasal bone is usually much longer and this is the area that can suffer damage if a nose band is too low. This is especially important with head collars and bitless bridles where the majority of the pressure is applied through the nose band.

A properly fitted noseband sits above the floating nasal bone whilst avoiding the pertruding cheek bone. On a live horse you can feel where this is by running your hand gently down the each side of the horse's nose.

This bridle is actually a little large for this skull, but I hope this helps get the idea across.
