Forage is very important for horses in cold 🥶 weather because it helps them maintain their body temperature and energy levels.

Forage is the basis of a horse's diet, and it's especially important in the winter when grass is scarce! 🌱

Why forage is important in cold weather…

🔥 Generates heat 🔥
Forage is fermented in the horse's digestive system, which produces heat that keeps the horse warm.
⚡️ Maintains energy levels ⚡️
Forage provides the energy a horse needs to offset heat loss from the cold.

Our last one of 2024 home after 11 days, miss Foxy 🦊🤎

Foxy came to HLS during her rehabilitation to use the treadmill and combifloor to aid healing of an annular ligament injury. Unlike most horses who have been out of work, Foxy was underweight! She was also lacking muscle due to box rest. 11 days later and she has gained 8kg 🤞🏼 improved muscle mass 💪🏼 and weight distribution!🤩

Wishing Foxy and owner the best of luck for the season of 2025!! 🥰🥳💖

20yo Irish sport horse Dennis doing all the golden oldies proud this week! 🤩

Dennis came to HLS after testing high on his EMS levels. A week with us to boost his insulin resistance and gain some muscle after being on a diet at home and he is looking ready to go out eventing again! 🖤
