It’s at the end of June so we thought we’d introduce Mylo who came to visit with his companion.

Mylo’s owner was worried about some sneezing episodes. Andreea gave him a full health check which didn’t highlight anything serious.

rabbits can sneeze for a number of reasons; sources of environmental irritation such as dust, perfumes or household sprays or due to internal illnesses such as infections, eye issues or dental problems.

Stay tuned in June for more useful rabbit info to raise awareness of rabbits and their needs. We’d love to see pictures of your 🐰

Warning! Image shows surgical procedure.

We get many interesting cases here at and one recent procedure produced some surprising results.

The images show the removal of “struvite bladder stones” from a dog. Struvite is a normal component of a dog’s urine and will normally dissolve in the slightly acidic liquid. If the urine becomes very “concentrated” or alkaline (the opposite of acidic), struvite crystals may form.

This condition commonly affects female dogs and they usually form as a complication of a bladder infection which can make the urine more alkaline.

Some signs to look out for are blood in the urine and/or straining to urinate. Confirming that stones are present can usually be done by ultra-sound or x-ray.

Treatment options vary, according to the stone size. In this case, the stones were very large so surgical removal was the only option.
Sometimes it is recommended that the stones are sent away for analyse to confirm their composition.

If your dog is showing signs of a urine infection or you have any concerns about your dog in general, contact the team to book in via PetsApp or by calling 01772 639800 OR 01253 766352.

It’s week in the USA, so it’s a great time to raise awareness of this common condition in dogs 🐶. It can be difficult to know if your dog is anxious but there are some key signs to look out for:

• Barking and/or whining
• Pacing
• Scratching
• Chewing
• Drooling
• Panting
• Urinating & defecating in the house
• Shaking
• Digging

There can be many reasons why a dog might be anxious or stressed; being separated from their owner, loud noises such as fireworks, changes in home circumstances or a disruption to their routine. So, what can an owner do about helping their dog?

Head over to the Adaptil website to find out more about anxiety and what you can do to help your dog. There’s a wealth of information on the site for all dog and puppy owners so click the link below:

May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, 2024 being the 20th anniversary since the campaign began.

A focus of this year’s awareness is the importance of protecting, by law, the title of Veterinary Nurse.

We wanted to share views on why this is so important to us and how it feeds into our quality of standards that we provide for our clients and patients.

As a training practice we are proud of the quality of training we provide to students working towards this qualification. Once qualified, our Registered Veterinary Nurse’s contribute massively to the standards of care offered to our patients, many of whom go on to hold their own clinics and undertake further, specialist training.

RVNs work extremely hard to qualify. Many work a full time job whilst studying during an intensive two years of both practical and theoretical learning. This culminates in written examinations and an intensive practical demonstration of their learning, knowledge, understanding and practical application of those skills.

Here at our RVNs go on to develop their skills and knowledge and are actively encouraged to do so. This is often to a level where even the vets will seek advice and support on clinical cases from our RVNs.

Not protecting this qualification allows the quality of care and advice for animals to be diminished and we wholeheartedly support the protection of the qualification and title by law. Our short video demonstrates some of what our team do in practice and we’d love for you to celebrate them with us.

You can find out more about the campaign at the link

🚨Attention all cat lovers!🚨

Don't forget, starting on 10th June 2024, it will be the law to get your microchipped. From that date it will be law all cats are microchipped from 20 weeks old and to keep your contact details up to date on an approved microchip database 🐾.

Why does it matter? It's not only the law but who are chipped are reunited with their owners more quickly in the majority of cases. This is particularly important for owners whose may have been fatally injured. Being reunited provides closure and is a very important part of the grieving process 💔

With an estimated 2.8 million cats in the UK who are not microchipped, don't be caught out and risk being fined up to £500 🐱

Spread the word and call our team today to book in, via PetsApp or by calling 01772 639800 OR 01253 766352.

On our final day of recognising our reception team as part of , we end with a member of the team who is no longer with us but who retired at the end of March 2024, after having worked at for over 15 years.

Sheena has finally decided to skip off, into the sunset to pursue new adventures (mainly wine sampling holidays with a smidge of creative painting). We wish her all the very best in a well-deserved retirement.

Thank you, Sheena, for your hard work, wisdom and client relation skills. The place won’t be the same without you.
