💔 Every year, thousands of pets go missing, and not all find their way back home.

National Lost Pet Prevention Month is a gentle reminder that prevention matters.

On your walks, keep your dog on their lead and supervised.

When you get home, make sure your gates and doors are closed.

If fireworks or loud noises are expected, see that your pets are safe indoors.

Whether it’s a gate left open, a sudden noise, or a slipped lead, the unexpected happens.

If your pet escapes, make sure your they can be easily identified, since it could be the thing that brings them home. Keep your pet’s microchip details updated and ensure they have an ID tag with your name, phone number and address.

Not sure your pet’s microchip details are updated? Get in touch with us!

If you’re a cat owner, you’ve certainly had the experience of feeling your cat’s harsh tongue on your skin. 😺 But have you ever wondered why your cat licks you?

Here are just a few reasons:

👉 They’re showing affection for you

👉 They’re seeking attention

👉 They like how you taste (be aware of not letting them lick you if there’s any cosmetics on you!)

👉 They’re anxious and are licking you as a way to relieve stress

Be aware that if your cat is constantly licking you, they could have behavioural issues that need to be addressed, so get in touch with us!

Did you know that, just like humans, dogs can also suffer from cataracts? 🤔

A cataract is an opacity of a structure inside the eye called the lens. The lens is usually clear and transparent, helping focus images onto the retina at the back of the eye.

This means that cataracts can interfere with your pet's vision and, in severe cases, may even cause blindness. When this happens, you may notice your pet bumping into things.

Cataracts in dogs can be caused by trauma, old age or be secondary to an underlying disease, such as diabetes mellitus.

Fortunately, cataracts can be treated surgically using the same technique that's used to treat cataracts in people. The cloudy lens is removed from your dog's eye and replaced by an artificial implant. 👀

If your dog's eyes look cloudy, bluish-grey or if you notice a change in your pet's eyesight, do not hesitate to get in touch with us!

🚨 Heat Alert 🚨
Keep Your Pets Safe This Weekend!

Temps are set to soar this weekend, and that means serious danger for our furry friends. 🐶🐱

⚠️ Heat stroke can be fatal — and it happens fast!

Key precautions to follow:

🚫 Never leave pets in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.

🕒 Limit outdoor activity, especially between 10am and 4pm.

💧 Provide constant access to cool, fresh water.

🌡️ Keep pets indoors in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

🔥 Avoid hot surfaces like pavement — they can burn paws.

🚨 Know the warning signs: heavy wide mouth panting, difficulty breathing, excessive salivation, weakness, confusion, vomiting, collapse.

If you suspect heat stroke, act fast - get them in the shade, soak your pet with cold water (no towels, just lots of water), get a fan on them to encourage evaporation, and contact your vet immediately. Transport your pet in an air conditioned vehicle if possible, windows open if not.

Let’s keep tails wagging safely this summer! 💛☀️

Assistance dogs are trained to help people with disabilities live more independent lives. They’re truly heroes! 🦸‍♂️

If you’d like to help, there are plenty of things you can do, such as volunteering with an organisation that trains guide dogs, donating or fundraising.

And if you’re looking into expanding your family, why not adopt a retired guide dog or a dog that hasn’t managed to complete their training?

Do you have any other suggestions on how to help? Drop them below! 👇
