FIRE WORKS TIME 🎆

Desensitization is a process that can help dogs become less afraid of fireworks by gradually exposing them to the sound:

Use a sound effects CD or YouTube videos: You can find videos of fireworks or thunderstorm noises on YouTube. Start with a soft volume and gradually increase it.

Practice a relaxed response: Before introducing the sound, practice a relaxed response like "sit", "down", or "stay".

Start at a low volume: Begin with a volume that doesn't cause distress.

Increase the volume gradually: After a few minutes, increase the volume slightly. Continue until your dog can relax while the sound is at full volume.

Repeat sessions: Hold training sessions multiple times per day, but for very short periods of time.

Use treats as rewards: Cut treats into small pieces and use them as rewards.

Stay calm: Remain calm so your dog remains calm.

Make routine changes: Take your dog for a walk and a toilet break before it gets dark. You can also feed them early.

Settle your dog before fireworks: Give them something enjoyable to do, like a toy stuffed with food or a long-lasting chew.

Consider consulting a veterinarian: If progress is not steady, consult your veterinarian for further advice or help.

Dogs that are safely and gradually exposed to loud noises during their socialization period are often able to cope more effectively with loud sounds.

Don't usually post actual things on here but calling all dog owners to make sure they're dogs microchip is there when they visit vet!! As not common practice for them to check 😬 Dolly was chipped 2022 and had to have her scanned on Saturday for agility thing and they couldn't find it! Had to be re chipped today vets have said it could of fallen out after being inserted or could be a faulty chip 😡. Just want to highlight this with lots of dogs going missing and god forbid dolly had gone missing.... I dread to think 🥺
