We are a family farm in Lacey Green Buckinghamshire. We have a small pedigree Beef Shorthorn suckler herd and a commercial meat goat herd.

We also rear beef x dairy calves and have mixed poultry with a weekly egg round for the local area.

What a way to finish up the Easter weekend with one of my favourite cows Lola deciding to finally relinquish her hostage! A rather big, rather overcooked beautiful roan heifer calf!! Lola needed a bit of help due to the calf being quite big and not quite in the right place, a little rearrangement and out she popped! Up and about quickly, she's only about 10 mins old in the pic!! Good work Lola! Excited to see this little one dry and fluffy in the daylight tomorrow.

Chicky clean out morning ❤️ as well as our flock of laying girls we also have small groups of pure breed chickens and ducks as well as the Turkeys! These are Debs and the kids pets but we do also hatch and sell some of the babies. The lighter chicks in the photo are Salmon Faverolle's which will be a brand new breed for us, so we're very excited to see how these guys grow on! 🐣🐣🐣

Welcome to the world little heifer calf 🥰
Genna, one of my very experienced Shorthorn cows had her calf this afternoon. She waited until we went to pick the kids up to get on with it 🤣 The best calvings are the ones where we walk in the shed and find a healthy calf and mum but we do have a calving camera just to keep an eye on things. Better pictures tomorrow when it's light but she's a beaut. 🩷

Promisedland Ralph looking smart 👌 this young lad will be looking for a new herd of ladies very soon. Pedigree registered by Naploen of Upsall and out of a great cow family for us, he's been used and we have calves on the ground. Not been pushed at all so will go on and do well in any system.
(We have a second slightly younger bull available too if anyone wants a pair that have been living together happily with a bunch of heifers.)

Hay making 23 finally got done last week just before the showers 😬😬 with 52 bales not fitting in the shed I think we should have plenty to feed everyone through the winter! Re doing fences and moving cows next on the agenda and then muck!

Archie has another freshly hatched little pekin chick who needed a little snooze on route to the brooder. ❤️ Archie will have a small number of sexed pekin growers for sale later in the year. All mixed beautiful colours hatched from his own hens.

Today has been a good day! Another little heifer born and a much anticipated one at that! Snowdrop our pedigree holstein cow came to us after a herd dispersal a few years ago, where Matt was currently working. She couldn't be sold in the sale as she had a foot problem and was not incalf, even after being served 5 times. Her foot is stable but needs annual trimming now. We got a bargain basement pedigree cow and brought her home, she stood in calf to a fertility plus straw of semen after a month or two and had a sim bull calf as the result last year. We really wanted Snowdrop to have a heifer to continue her line as we had both did a little with her previous herd in the past and we love her 🥰 so we brought one fairly expensive straw of sexed semen. She came bulling naturally and I ai'd her and she stood first time! Fast forward to now and this little lady arrived happy and healthy 8 days early and the Snowdrop line has a new little baby to hopefully be part of our dairy herd in a few years time. 2 herd favourite cows and 2 new pedigree heifers makes us very happy today!

Part of our hens outside area is a lovey dry spot among some trees which provides the perfect dust bathing area! Dust bathing is one of a hens favorite things to do daily. It's a natural way they clean their feathers and to remove any pests. The hens will naturally make a new dust bath area once one has been sufficiently used to keep it as clean as possible so we have lots of these little dips dotted about. Happy hens doing what they would do in nature make the best eggs! The outside forage they find naturally makes our yolks the lovely colour 😊
