Photos of Friday afternoon walk we stayed on the main path as no deep mud lots of fun was had morning crew had a on lead walk and I can say I am so proud of all of them with there brilliant behaviour with other dogs off lead and on charging pass them they all just watched me
All walks will go ahead today but all will be on lead only the fields are saturated and I don't want to risk injury to any dogs running in thick mud or through standing water as I can't see what's under the water plus streams are higher than normal so not safe to allow dogs near incase of getting into trouble
Please be aware due to the rain tonight there is a lot of flooding I will check in morning but if flood waters still high in morning I may for the safety of the dogs cancel walks and offer pop ins instead as the safety of the dogs comes first if I cancel I will message by 7.30am

As we come to the end of 2023 I would like to thank all the Mini Mutts family for there on going support I am so lucky to have such wonderful dogs and owners and I promise 2024 will be full of more fun walks and ongoing support and training for all with no judgement I had a wonderful year meeting some amazing people and dogs and had wonderful comments about how good all the dogs i walk are and to all the haters out there I look forward to seeing what lies and rubbish you can come up with I have nothing to hide

With the new year a few days away I know some of you will be looking to book hoildays and then looking for home boarding or kennels for your dogs both these options need to be licensed by the council there are in I have noticed specially on rover.com most home boarders don't have a licence after checking on banes Web site they are not covered by rover.com and need there own licence for there home where they will have your dog if they don't have a licence there insurance won't cover you dog should anything happen to them while in there care

Just a reminder I am walking Christmas day and boxing day if anyone need there dog walked I offer walks these day as it can be overwhelming for dogs with excited children or people coming round so a nice fun walk away from it all can help a dog cope with it all Christmas day I will be doing a morning group walk and boxing day I will do morning and afternoon group walk there is no extra charge for these days as here at mini mutts we put the dog first and happy dogs are are top priority
Afternoon crew and Leo loving life now you see a happy fun loving dog but he has a ecollar on when out with me as his prey drive is off the scale and he needs to run and have freedom now I normally only need the vibration setting to remind him to recall when he get a scent or see something to chase but just before this he was off after birds so I had to use the stimulus button and as you can see he not shut down or scared but loving having off lead time not many dogs need these ecollar and they are always a last resort but for the few that do it gives them freedom and a fun life and ofter after a while don't need them on

Poor woody these squirrels don't half tease him he was so good a bit of moaning but he kept his cool so proud of him

Morning crew and joey was a super star leaving her mum alone and doing her own thing
Some of you might remember this plonker the lovely Rodney I took him on after he ran 3 field to attack chickens after months of training having to use a ecollar as his prey drive was something else I made the decision to rehome him to a wonderful family and wow here he is doing what he was bred to do flushing and retrieving game now he needed ecollar training as even on a long line with a lump of meat dangled infront of him he would rather go for a bird than the meat it was a last resort to give him a life and it has he no longer needs to ware it and is happy doing the job he loves and was bred for
Afternoon crew and a windy walk which reggie was not impressed by but he still had fun and cheeky Winston who puts on a show when I collect him but once out you can see he has a great time love him to bits he always brightens up any walk
Morning crew and willow was in full pest mode she's such a monkey mini Alfie having a few walks on lead as the temptation to chase squirrels is getting him in trouble so I am ding some training on lead to teach him to leave them and stay nearer me he did great today
Firstly a massive thank you to everyone for being so understanding with the late start today you guys are wonderful morning crew had a great walk we avoided the mud but still had off lead fun then afternoon 2 effie is always good but Leo was amazing I am so so proud of this boy

I started the day with finding out a husky had got in my mates field and chased and injured her sheep on Wednesday the irresponsible dog owner did little to catch or help and my mate rugby tackled the dog to catch it the owners had zero control as it dragged them back towards the sheep once on lead I have no patience for people like this no amount of rewards will stop this dog from doing it again the dog now needs to be kept on lead and muzzled (so loosing it freedom and having a restricted life )as the owners can't control so will probably get loose again or go to a proper trainer and have training to avoid livestock of all kinds and if needed e-collar training as a last resort or it will sadly end up being shot the next time it get loose as livestock owners have this right to protect there livestock in this way

Mini Alfie prey drive overtakes his listening ears on this bit of the woods so on long line and a bit of reinforcing through praise to listen and stay close I don't use lots of treat just praise as I don't want to bribe him I want him to realise stay close and listening is a good thing not just there treats and this is where the force free /purely positive lot will be screaming treats treats treats by having him on a lead I am restricting how far he can go so forcing him to stay near and if I ijnor this behaviour I don't want and only reward if he looks or returns to me he will learn he can go chase squirrels but as long as he returns he will be rewarded
So giving him boundary and clear commands of yes no after a few weeks he will hopefully be off lead on this stretch of woodland and under safe and close control
