I'm a week later than anticipated, but back to work today after my recovery 😊 cannot wait to see my pups! Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding during this time, it means the world to me 🐾

Just a quick post to let you know that I will be off work for 2 weeks from this Friday 12th April to recover from a minor operation. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly.

Out with the V8 this morning 😅 I mean it in the nicest way. Chewie used to pull me everywhere, he was so determined that he'd try to put me into orbit some days! So his owner and I decided to try him on a headcollar, and what a difference it has made for him. It has helped him to relax more on his walks, and has given me a little more control with him. Training loose lead walking is still happening, as of course, the end goal is to simply use this as a tool to get us where we need to be... Not for him to have to wear it forever.
I can see him improving every week and he makes me so proud 🥰 keep going, you're getting it lad!

And then he turned 4 🥳 Happiest of Birthdays to Harley (2 days late, but I saw him on the day, of course)!
When I'm talking about Harley to my husband I often say that it's like spending time with a human trapped in a dog's body. There's something magical about him. And if it wasn't for this boy and his incredible owner I wouldn't be in this position at all... He was my first dog and the reason this all started. So here's to Harley pup 🥰

Up to date DBS can be presented upon request. All keys are stored securely. Having your dog walker take a key also means that if you ever get locked out, you know it won't be long until you can get back in. A win-win!

⚠️ PSA to all dog owners/walkers⚠️
Adder Season is in full force: we would know because our little lady got bitten today😢

Be alert in areas with long grass and on sunny warm days; they like to bask in the sun (though we encountered one in a woodland so it is always best to be on your guard in spring/summer). While they are not really aggressive creatures, if startled they can strike in self defence. Hen was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and we suspect she likely trod on one while she was chasing her ball. Her reaction was immediate and severe.

🐍If you think your dog has been bitten by an Adder, you should seek veterinary assistance immediately!
🐍Adder Venom is fast acting and if left untreated can cause dehydration, tremors and organ damage.
🐍The affected area may begin to swell immediately. You may be able to see a pair of puncture marks.
🐍In our lady's case, she was sick within 10 minutes and started swaying like she was going to pass out. She was deadweight, but conscious.
🐍If you are on a walk, and able to carry your dog to the car, this will slow the venom's circulation.
🐍 Keep calm, and remember that when treated quickly these bites are rarely fatal.

Hen is feeling sorry for herself but she was very brave and should make a good recovery. We will follow up with the vets on Monday.
