It's TCS London Marathon Fundraising Week Monday 3rd to Sunday 9 February 2025! Lindsey is training unbelievably hard and in all weathers !! More on Linsdey's training this week.

We need the funds towards building two new wooden stables in the small paddock at the rear of the site to improve the welfare of our horses 🧡 and improve the drainage in the paddock which we use for ponies and horses recovering from lameness or unwell and those where we need to manage their weight especially in Summer! Please support .

Communities are stronger together! 🧡

Our access road, Moor Road, was in an awful state especially after the snow and ice this January! Worse ever seen!

It was affecting the safety of our disabled riders and SEN schools accessing the Riding Centre, which is a Charity.

We were concerned about maintaining access for emergency services and the uneven and challenging surface was impacting on the welfare of the horse and ponies.

Marshalls donated many tonnes of natural materials and National Trust volunteers spread and installed on the upper part of Moor Road. Bury Council supplied many tonnes of materials to improved the surface and protect the lower part of Moor Road, which is a bridleway and historic route.

A heartfelt thank you from all at Margaret Haes Riding Centre

We are now into the harder time of the year with the cold 🥶 weather. We are now supplementing all of our horses with hay overnight in the field which has increased costs for the charity.

If anyone can spare a few moments to please share our page to help raise funds to help keep our horses well fed and warm over the remainder of the winter it would be very appreciated.

Margaret Haes Riding Centre

The Margaret Haes Riding Centre was founded by Margaret Haes in 1967. She soon affiliated her new riding centre to the Riding for the Disabled Association. She was an accomplished horsewoman, and passionate about sharing her love of riding with those less fortunate.

In approximately 1976 she and her team joined NWRAH, the North West Riding Association for the Handicapped. In 2004, in recognition of Peggy’s hard work and dedication, the centre, now independent, was re-named the Margaret Haes Riding Centre.

The charity is an independent organisation that relies on donations for the upkeep of the stables. It has embarked on a comprehensive refurbishment project to improve the facilities.

The charity continues to provide riding opportunities for the disabled and reaches as far afield as Rochdale, Wigan and Bolton. The charity has helped hundreds of physically and mentally disabled children and adults enjoy the experience of riding over the West Pennine Moors.
