The month of May celebrates Vet Nurse Awareness Month! 💚
During this time Vet Nurses all over the UK are recognised for their contributions to the veterinary profession, and we want to highlight some of the amazing jobs our RVN’s do that keep your pets safe and comfortable 💪
(We know this is a long post, so please bear with us, but we really encourage you to read it all as you may be surprised! 🙏)
RVN’s train for 2 to 3 years, they complete multiple theory and practical exams as students alongside numerous assignments before they can finally register with the RCVS and become an RVN. Nurses don't just hold your pet for the vet and cuddle puppies all day (although this is a perk 🫶), they are trained to do so much more…
They….
- 🩺 Monitor your pets vitals during their surgery, anaesthetic and recovery, and detect if there are any problems straight away
- ⚠️Triage your pet when you rush through the door with an emergency
- 🩸Take blood from your pet even when they're super wriggly or angry
- 💉Place cannulas and intubate your pet, even in small pets like bunnies
- ℹ️ Give you a wealth of information on complex medical conditions such as diabetes and pancreatitis
- 🐶 Give you help and advice for various health conditions including dietary support, beneficial supplements, dental management and weight loss programmes
- 🔪Perform Schedule 3 surgical procedures (under the Vets direction and supervision)
- 🩻 Take and position your pets correctly for X-rays
- 🧪Prepare and examine microscopy and cytology slides

We have been open for just over 3 months now! 😱 and we cannot thank you all enough for your kind words and support
With the cold gloomy days coming in we thought we’d share some of the lovely faces we’ve had in over the last couple of months to bring some sunshine to your day ☀️
