Water farm dressage

We at waterfarm are heart broken to inform you all, that on the 15th October 2023 we trotted down center line for the final time.

After 16 years of running a successfull and flourishing business we have been forced to make the awful decision to close our doors, and Water Farm Dressage Centre as you have come to know and love it, has ceased to exist.

We are so deeply saddened, but the decision was taken out of our control by our landlords and after lenghty discussions with our staff, liveries and supporters we decided with much tears that could not continue to run Water Farm in the way that made us special and you had become accustomed to. We feel we have let you all down as you have lost yet another competition venue, one we strived to make welcoming and supportive for all who crossed our threshold.
We wanted to create an inclusive and supportive club run by riders, for riders who all understand the unsteady journey of horse ownership, of all levels, ideals and abilities from lead rein to PSG.

Waterfarm is a family, and we have always considered you all as such. Some of our friendships span over a decade and we are destroyed to have lost these bonds, the beautiful venue and the amazing community we have forged, with loyalty and fondness, both locally and internationally.

Looking back at what we have lost is bitter sweet, over the years we have celebrated with so many of you, not just horsey achievements but engagements, weddings, championships, births and deaths.

It hasnt always been easy, but on the whole it has been a wondrous 16 year journey for us to have shared with you our knowledge and classical ethos.
We would also like to thank you all for allowing us to join you on your journey and though we are not at waterfarm we would love to continue to be a part of your endeavours.

Ring craft clinic today.
Having a judge and instructor combine to help you gain easy marks really gives the rider an intense crash course to achieve better results. Well done to all.

From the sublime to the ridiculous.
Recovering from the torrential rain last night by relaxing in the garden in 20 degree heat.
Our competitors were amazingly stoic and braved the rain. They were all fantastic and smiles all round with some pb's thrown in. Thank you all for coming out in such bad weather, you are brilliant.

Nothing better than a harrowed and rolled arena after some hefty rain. (Its the unexpected delights of horse life.)

On Tuesday we held our evening dressage. Always a delightful event. Unaffiliated and grass roots to just enjoy and have a go. We also welcome para riders as we have and BD para judge, Lotte. We also have lots of first timers and new combinations. Lots of people come to support the riders and it becomes a fabulous atmosphere.

Two of our team, Chrysi and Lucy, are engaging in an amazing challenge for charity. They will be walking the Yorkshire Thee Peaks for CMT and MS research.

These disabilities affect the nervous system and make life extremely difficult. Some one close to them has these conditions and the girls are determined to raise money for research to forward future breakthroughs into this rare disorder. We would encourage you to please donate to them to smash their fund raising goal.

It was lovely to host Colne Valley Riding Club (CVRC) today.
Its nice to have the facilities and be able to share them now so many venues are closing.
Tomorrow is another BD event at waterfarm. A weekend of competitions.

Sad news. We have lost the most valued member of staff today and are heartbroken.

As some of you know, Nancy has been extremely unwell since Monday with confusion and vomiting. We prayed and hoped it was a blip like last year with her seizures.
Unfortunately this was not the case. The vet came this morning and we decided tlit was best for her to put her to sleep.
It was a distressing end for us, but a quick end for her. We were sure to not let her suffer, though now we are suffering at her loss.

She was our:
-welcoming committee
-Political advisor
-Assistant instructor
-refuse consultant
-gardener
-best friend
And all round amazing adventure and so much more.

What a beautiful start to our year of competitions. Lovely to see you all again and meet some beautiful new ponies ponies and people. It was a bit cozy in the car park but thankyou all for being so understanding.

Yesterday the Waterfarm yard team went to a "Millionaire" quiz night, hosted and in aid of the 'Shelley RDA Centre'. An amazing charity doing outstanding work and a centre we have always been involved with and supported for 10 years. It was a lovely evening with a ploughman's meal and wine.

A brilliant out come for Chrysi who qualified for the British Dressage Online Championships and then to place 3rd and 7th on two of her horses.
A big well done as this year have seen both horse and rider suffer sever injuries.
