During November 2024 a National Antibiotic Amnesty is being held by vets, doctors and pharmacists. We are asking pet owners to return any unused or leftover antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal. Please drop off any unused medications to us at the practice. This medication might be left-over from a recent prescription, antibiotics that you didn’t need or out-of-date medication. Let’s keep antibiotics working, together!

Happy National Black Cat Day.

Did you know that National Black Cat Day was originally started in 2011 by the Cats Protection League? They wanted to raise awareness of all the homeless black cats in rescue centres. Sadly, black cats are usually the last to be rehomed compared to other colours.

But, if you've ever owned a black or black and white cat you'll know how unique and special they are.

It would be lovely to see some photos of your mini panthers and tuxedo cats.

We'll start it off with Squeak and Ozzy who belong to one of our nurses.

Unfortunately, we have had a deceased black and white, male entire cat brought into us today. He was found in the Brook Road area of Rayleigh. If you believe he is yours, please contact the clinic on 01268 745180.

Switch your litter to help the environment! 💩
Did you know that traditional clay based cat litter has a significant negative impact on the planet?
Its production is energy intensive and can cause significant harm to the local environment where the ingredients are extracted.
Additionally, clay cat litter isn't biodegradable and will remain in landfill along with any additives such as odour eliminating chemicals which, again, can cause harm to the local environment.
Make an easy switch to more planet-friendly products including litters made from recycled paper, wood, or plant materials to help your cat do their bit for the environment. 😺🌎🍃

Here at Your Vets Rayleigh, we care about your beloved pet’s well being. We understand that sometimes it can be difficult owning a dog whether it was from a rescue or not. Coming to the clinic can be a very stressful experience, but we are here to help. At Your Vets we offer free of charge desensitization clinics to help support you and your pet when you need it. It allows your dog to get used to the clinic and the staff and teach them that a visit to the vets can be a relaxed and exciting experience (treats are often involved). We have found that these clinics have also helped our clients at home. We can try to help no matter how big or small the breed, all we ask for is your dedication.

In this photo below is one of our successful consults. This is Bella. Bella was aggressive towards people and pets and she showed very little signs before becoming very stressed. It made examining her very difficult. After a few months of regular sessions and the owners help, Bella has massively improved. She is now happy and relaxed to walk around the clinic and will briefly say hello to staff and others inside and outside the clinic. This has also had an effect on Bella and her owners stress levels at home and when they all go on walks.

If this sounds like something your pet will benefit please call 01268 745180 to book a ‘get to know me’ appointment with Gabrielle, who works at the clinic as a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA). Whether it’s trying to make life easier for nail clips, vaccinations or helping to correct an unwanted behavior, we are here to help.

Please note Gabby is not not a certified behaviorist but she is enthusiastic and happy to share tips and tricks to others in need.

Please be aware that due to staffing shortages this weekend we are not able to offer our usual 10 - 2 pm appointments on Sunday and bank holiday Monday. We will be open for emergencies only.

If you do have an emergency on either of these days please still call 01268 745180.

Thank you.
