Got my geese well trained haven't I? ð. Whilst they haven't quite worked out taking themselves away for the night as they have only recently been free ranging here, they are very easy to guide in. This was done solo with me filming as I herd them in to their accommodation. Having come in as rescues recently, the last of their flock and after some time settling in they can now free range the property as they see fit. They seem to be getting to well with all of the other animals here and whilst I had considered adopting them out should a suitable home come along. I've decided to keep them and try to rebuild the flock. If you have any geese in need of a good home please feel free to reach out as Goosey and Funnybill would love some new friends ðĶĒâĪïļ
Thanks to Lisa from Wickford for adopting two of our cockerels in need of a flock of their own. These two beautiful pekin cross silkie bantam boys now have six large fowl lady girlfriends of their very own. Please keep me updated on them, always here to help if needed although from the sounds of it they are settling in well to their new home. We do have a number of other cockerels both bantam and large fowl in need of good (pet) homes. Their is a minimum donation to be made via the Amazon wish list or in person which not only safe guards the animals but supports the rescue. We are based in Rayleigh, Essex and the postcode is SS6 7NS. For more information on cockerels available for adoption, or if you are looking to rehome your own chickens please feel free to get in touch via the page there is an option to call or to message me. Good morning from my free range bantam flock which came here originally all the way from Stoke on Trent. Adele Clark the former owner was having to move and where she is moving to there is a limit on how many chickens she could keep. Plus no cockerels aloud.
She wanted the best for the animals no matter where in the country they went. So I offered to pay over ÂĢ200 out of my own pocket in transport costs to get them here safely, she very kindly split the bill with me.
Thanks to Tracy James transport for getting them here safely, they arrived at a little after midnight after a long journey. I spent a few hours with them afterwards in the barn which they roost in, they have a large secure shed and free range every day with the option to go back inside at any point.
Most of my chickens free range daily but I do have to plan around which cockerels are out, today I have 5 cockerels out free ranging in harmony. Sometimes I have as many as 7 or 8.
A lot of the cockerels came in on their own, some ex pets, some saved from being used for meat, c*ck fighting, culled or dumped and almost all have been successfully paired or grouped. Others have been put up for adoption to good homes.
Should anyone be interested I do have some cockerels looking for good homes (no charge or adoption fee) only ask for a donation to be made of food, bedding and / or of supplies to support the rescue.
Thanks to anyone that has made a donation when visiting or used our Amazon wish list. You can find the wish list pinned at the top of the page.
Alternatively you can order through ebay, amazon and many other websites then just set the delivery address to Heath Nurseries, Daws Heath Road, Rayleigh, Essex, SS6 7NS.
Thanks to Paula for adopting the other Rhode Island Red cockerel. The two brothers originally came from Peterborough, they were loved by the original owners but couldn't keep them as they were cockerels.
Previously they spent a lot of time free ranging here but recently they've been rather naughty with the other cockerels who free roam in harmony (had 7 cockerels free ranging today for instance without any issues).
Paula has a reasonable size flock for one cockerel and he should be a very happy boy there with lots of hens for company.
All of which came from British Hen Welfare Trust. Since he has gone to his new home, I have paired his brother up with a rather aggressive dominant hen who's also a bit of a troublemaker.
Before she came in she attacked and caused distress to her flock mates regularly. I had a feeling they would hit it off and they did it's only their first day together but perhaps I should take up matchmaking ðĪĢ
Don't want to count my chickens as that'll take me ages.. but I'll consider this a complete success. One cockerel adopted with a flock of his own, another paired off and starting to bond with a hen that was difficult to pair and or house with other chickens ð
Paula sent me this video footage of him being introduced to his new hens whilst they aren't in the same enclosure or free ranging together as he's just come in they can see and interact with one another.
I quarantine all new birds that come in here, treating for worms and mites whether they stay or are adopted. Most of the chickens stay on site long term but I am always happy to consider adoptions provided they are going to good homes and I don't charge a penny as an adoption fee.
Only ask for donations of food, bedding and supplies to be made to support the rescue. This can be done via our Amazon wishlist or you can head to your local feed and pet shops to support local businesses then bring it with you when visiting the rescue.
Thanks to everyone for your continued s

A few of Adeles bantam flock which came all the way from Stoke on Trent enjoying your Amazon wish list chicken feed donations. Quite often re use the buckets for feed, water or for storage whilst they work out a little more expensive than buying sacks of feed generally. They are pretty handy. Thanks to anyone that has sent a donation in via Amazon. Our wish list is pinned on the page should you wish to place an order to support the rescue, alternatively you can use the Amazon app just add our address (you can do the same on ebay if you prefer) any support appreciated and helps to run the rescue on a larger scale. Donations welcomed food, bedding, supplies, can always use first aid supplies, good storage for feed, feeders, drinkers, hutches, coops, whilst I don't expect anything. Everything is welcomed and if I cannot use it I'll pass it on to another local rescue or a charity shop so some good will always come from it âĪïļ
