Anyone remember when card swipers were chunky, paper invoices stacked up high, and counting coins was a daily ritual? 🕰💳💼💰
So much has changed since Marshalls was established in 1990. Card payments for a start! As seen in the vid this is how we used to take card payments, swipe the card, give a receipt to the customer and then take a carbon copy to the bank to be charged. I can’t remember the time scales in which we got paid but it certainly wasn’t swift.
The old-school card swiper machines may have been a bit clunky, but they allowed us to collect card details and as a result payment.
Back in the day we used to receive paper copies of all invoices. We had endless stacks of paper invoices that cluttered every desk, and you could never find the one you were looking for. It was always at the back of the filing cabinet or under the drivers seat of the van.
We still do take cash in both our stores, however, significantly less than we did years ago when the majority of payments were in cash. These days it is very much the other way round, mostly card payments with a much smaller amount of cash.
Yep times have changed and Marshalls have come a long way. Technology has revolutionised the way we do business, making transactions faster, more efficient, and more secure. We love we are a company which was born in the 1990’s but also looking to rock the 2020’s and beyond.
