First session out schooling on grass before the event season and the weather was fabulously British but the ground was brilliant at Munstead Horse Trials. We took our retired racehorse from @hkg_equestrian and he was bold and brave, along with my sons 5yr old who he is training to event later this year #nextgeneration #retiredracehorse
Wintery sunshine mornings with young “Topaz” changing his shape and growing in confidence every day. Riding out in the forrest develops his footwork and top line whilst showing him the world.#youngeventhorse
First experience for my sons little horse “Ralph”today in the water treadmill. With GCSE’s approaching it allows me to keep this 5yr old developing when there is less time for riding after school. It’s fascinating to see how quickly the horses pick up this type of work, it significantly helps to develop the global strength and conditioning, in particular over the top line of muscles. The team their are professional with a bespoke approach to your horses needs 🙏🏻
“Topaz” now learning to canter and develop his own forward balance. For me doing this out hacking in the forrest is a great way to teach them early on to be forward thinking, you can see him changing legs feeling the ground conditions. Love this track with the added water elements! Such a bold young horse, by the time we come round to doing some light schooling in an arena he will be naturally forward and light. #3yrsold #youngeventhorse
Day spent training with the coaches from PMP “Performance Mentoring Programme” with Caroline Moore Event Coach, Ros Canter Eventing & Nick Turner. Discussions, ideas and eye for detail was the theme of the day. Also love riding with my buddy Kylie !!! #PMP
Autumn walks with “Topaz” the 3 yr old. Learning confidence and basic aids for ridden work next year. #watchthisspace #youngeventhorse
“First Hack” took the plunge today to ride up and out the driveway! Using a calm lead horse to give confidence, from early on I like to establish the basic voice aids and light leg aid to teach start & stop. It’s so important at this stage you have the horse established from your voice and your natural aids remain light, even if the horse does not respond repeat the aid never ride with a stronger aid. Remember the horse always feels you they need to understand the question. It’s at this point you can train a horse that is switched off to aids if applied too strongly. Kudos to my daughter who is a brilliant training partner on her young horse she is trianing, sourced from @bratwellequine 🙌🏼 #youngeventhorse #nextgeneration
New Office View! After several weeks of building trust today felt right to have a quiet sit on board, such a special moment when you have that first feel and first view of the head & neck ! Really excited about “Topaz”#youngeventhorse
