The Great Dog Bed Swap 😂🐾

Dog beds really are a hit or miss — it’s all about your dog’s sleeping style, not what looks cute in the corner of the room.

Fufu has had his round cozy bed since he was a tiny pup — it came with him the day he arrived in our lives. Over the weekend, when we met my cousin (who looked after him for a big chunk of our travels), she gave us back a few of his old things… and of course, his OG bed was one of them.

When we got back to Málaga, I had already bought a big bed for both dogs to share, thinking “ah, how cute, they’ll cuddle.” 🛏️

Well, you can guess what happened next...

Egusi IMMEDIATELY claimed Fufu’s old round bed as his own. 😂
He’s such a little nester — loves anything he can curl up in, snuggle into, and basically disappear.
Meanwhile, Fufu is happy to stretch out like a king in the big bed and doesn’t mind not sharing.

It’s funny how different dogs are with beds. Egusi wants a bed that swallows him whole. Fufu gets hot quickly and prefers space to sprawl.

Anyway, it’s safe to say:

Fufu has his new bed all to himself.

Egusi has “inherited” Fufu’s original one.

Everyone’s happy (and no one’s sharing 😂)

Part 3: Sunday – Driving Back to Málaga 🚗🌻

Sunday lunch time, we headed back to Spain — this time, taking the straightforward highway route. No countryside detours, no twisty roads… and wow, what a difference.

Fufu been reunited with his puppy bed! The bed that came with him when We got him, was with my cousin, and I think there will be Egusi's bed

Egusi slept the whole way. No accidents. No cleaning up.
Just a peaceful ride with sunflower fields along the way (my fave flower 🌻💛) — we passed by Seville.

Honestly, flight from Brazil was smoother than this roadtrip 😅

A few takeaways:

If you’re driving with dogs who get car sick, avoid the scenic route at all costs.

Give them food minimum 4 hours before the trip.

Use puppy pads, mattress protectors, baby wipes and p**p bags for easy cleanup.

And when in Portugal or Spain — expect to pay 5–10€ per dog at pet-friendly stays, which I think is totally fair.

We’re super grateful for the experience, even with the bumps along the way. Would 100% do it again!

— What We Learned (So You Don’t Have To 😅)

Part 2: Saturday – Crossing into Portugal & Reuniting with Fufu 🐾🇵🇹

Saturday morning around 8am, we took a short walk into the local town and had some hot chocolate at a cute café.
That’s where we met a local female Pinscher, and instantly knew Egusi definitely has some Pinscher in him. 😂

She had a whole routine! Went table to table politely begging, and people would literally order her plates of ham. Iconic behavior. 😂

Then we got back on the road — this time, just a short ride to Faro. Egusi did much better!
He still preferred staying in his travel bag, which is clearly his little safe spot. Fufu, on the other hand, wasn’t loving it, but at least it wasn’t long.

We stayed at Ibis Faro Algarve — super pet-friendly and comfy. Can definitely recommend if you're road-tripping with dogs.

We finally reunited with family in Faro, and it was so special!
Fufu was SO happy to see my cousin again — they took care of him during two-thirds of our world trip.
Egusi took a little longer to warm up, still a bit reactive with new people and baby voices, but got much better as the day went on.

We had lunch at a shopping mall with A/C, and the best part? Pets are allowed in all the shops! 😍

Later, we did a walk through Faro’s old town — amazing socialisation for both dogs. Egusi didn’t bark once and even ran around with my cousin’s son. So proud of him!

Part 1: Friday
4.5h Drive from Málaga to Faro with Dogs + Wheelchair
— What We Learned (So You Don’t Have To 😅)

In July, we did a road trip (by car) from Málaga, Spain to Faro, Portugal — 4.5 hours in the car, with both our pups (Fufu & Egusi) and the wheelchair on board. 😎🇪🇸➡️🇵🇹

– Leaving Málaga & The Scenic Route Mistake 😅
We left Málaga Friday morning and drove towards Villa Blanca, a pet-friendly area just 20 mins from the Portugal border.
Everything was going great… until we accidentally took the scenic route. 🙃
All the twisty roads and roundabouts made everyone queasy — except the driver!

Poor Egusi got properly car sick. A LOT. 😢

Tips if your dog gets car sick (learned the hard way):

Line the bottom of the crate or transport bag with a baby mattress protector.

Inside, place puppy pads only — skip blankets or towels. They just get ruined fast.

Always have wet wipes + dog p**p bags ready. I managed to catch a few throw-ups in the p**p bags (proud moment 🤣) but yeah… sometimes it was just too late.

Once the pad’s dirty, swap it and bin it inside a p**p bag = easy cleanup.

We made it to our overnight stop Friday evening, and honestly, it was a lovely place. They had a little pool, a restaurant, and our cottage had everything we needed. Both dogs were so tired, they slept through the night like champs.

☀️ Hot weather tip: If you're doing a summer road trip with pets, pack smart! We had the AC on full blast, kept the dogs hydrated, and made sure everyone had cooling mats and shade when parked.

✈️ Funny enough… the 4.5h car ride was more exhausting than our 10h flight from Rio to Spain. Go figure. 😅

— happy to share what worked for us! ❤️

🐶 The Truth About High-Protein Kibble (and What It Did to Egusi!)
📍 Málaga Edition – fresh grass, fresh food, fresh… reactions?! 😅

When we landed in Málaga, two things were waiting for Fufu and Egusi:
1️⃣ A memory foam bed so plush it's better than mine 🛏️
2️⃣ A 2kg bag of top-notch fish & rice kibble 🐟🍚 – you know, the kind of premium food with beautiful packaging and dreamy ingredients.

And let’s give Spain some credit here – the dog food game is strong:
✅ Lamb-based with little to no grain
✅ Fish-forward formulas (great for skin)
✅ 80/10 meat blends
✅ Fewer fillers and almost no chicken (finally!)
✅ Add things like herbs, veggies, prebiotics... the list goes on.

But just two days in… Egusi went red.
No bumps, no itching, no rash – just full-body sunburn mode 🔥 I first blamed the grass (more of it here than in Rio’s concrete jungle). But even avoiding grass, feeding indoors – same thing. Bright red dog. 🍅

By day 4, we had a new behavior: hu***ng.
His bed, his blanket, the air – whatever.
And yes, Egusi is castrated. 😂
By day 6, it became a routine. Ten minutes after dinner: red skin, hyper behavior, and... solo action. No toy needed, he’s a self-starter. 💀

As a trainer, I always say: food affects behavior. So I started researching.
Turns out, I wasn’t imagining things 👇

🍗 1. High Protein = High Energy
Rich diets (organ meats, oily fish) can overstimulate sensitive dogs. It’s not sexual arousal—just general hyperarousal. Some dogs release it by hu***ng. Yep, even neutered ones. 😅

🍖 2. Hidden Hormones & Additives
Even fancy food may contain flavor enhancers or hormones (especially non-EU meat). Soy-based ingredients can affect hormones too—rare, but possible.

💨 3. Gut-Brain Link
Food impacts mood. Gut upset or sensitivities can lead to:
• Restlessness
• Licking, rubbing, hu***ng
• Anxious or excitable behavior

🥗 Why We’re Trying Lamb & Rice
A simpler formula can help:
✅ Moderate protein/fat = calmer after meals
✅ Single protein (lamb) = fewer triggers
✅ Rice = slow energy release, less hyper spike

🥩 Watch For These in Dog Food:
• High fat content
• Artificial flavors/colors
• Meat by-products
• Soy, wheat
• Common allergens like chicken, beef, dairy

So we’re on standby now – watching Egusi like a hawk, waiting for his new food delivery like it’s Christmas. 🎁
Because when your dog’s turning red and getting weird after dinner, it might not be the weather. Or the grass. Or their hormones. 👉 It could just be the kibble.

And Fufu?
🧘‍♂️ Completely unbothered. Digesting like a monk in meditation.

📌 Moral of the story: Don’t underestimate food’s impact on your dog’s behavior and body. It’s not always about the brand – sometimes it’s just too rich, too much, or too complex for your dog’s system.

🚀✈️ From Brazil to Málaga: The long-ass flight edition (and a trainer’s perspective) 🤪🐾

“All that stress for nothing!” — that’s what Kings said when we finally landed. I’d been losing sleep over the CVI, pet docs, Fufu’s weight (incl. bag 😂)… and in the end, nobody (except TAP check-in in Rio) even looked at our papers on arrival. BUT — if you’re staying over 2 months in Spain, your dog must be registered at a vet, and Egusi needs his EU passport for future travel. So yes, the paperwork mattered — it just didn’t come out at border control. 😂

👉 How was the trip from a dog trainer’s view?
Fufu’s a pro at this — but I was focused on Egusi. I knew long-haul flights can be stressful for dogs, especially younger or reactive ones. I used all the techniques I teach in my training: desensitisation to busy environments, calm crate time, and confidence-building. And guess what? It worked.
💺 10h night flight, zero legroom, my back gave up after 3h. But both dogs? After some TLC at take-off, they slept like angels — better than us!

🌙 Pre-flight I made sure they had a big day: lots of walks, positive reinforcement during all the airport chaos, and structured downtime.

😩 Then Lisbon happened: 9 hours stuck due to special assistance connection mess. No food (was in checked bag — lesson learned!). No p*e for 10+ hours. We found the stinky Relief Area. Fufu, who I was sure wouldn’t use it, showed what good toilet training can do — when he had to go, he went! Egusi? Held on till the terminal walkway… wipes to the rescue! 😂

✌️ Why am I sharing this? Because if you’re travelling or dealing with challenging situations with your dog — reactivity, stress in busy places, crate anxiety — training makes all the difference. Egusi handled crowds, queues, loud noises, and even made friends with a 4-year-old at the gate.

💪 All that prep with exposure to busy places, positive leash skills, and calm focus paid off. Now, here in Málaga, we’ll work on greetings and building his confidence further — with treats ready, as always!

Are you pro or con when it comes to pets in the office? I'd love to hear your thoughts! 👇🐶

Been working these past few weeks on an exciting new AI project! 😊
Learning new skills every day — and the doggies have been tagging along for the ride. 🐾

It took little Egusi a few days to settle into the coworking space… mostly because everyone keeps stopping to say how adorable he is! 😍
Fufu, of course, handled it like a pro — as always. 🌟

Loving this chapter of learning, creating, and co-working with my favorite crew 🐶❤️

The boys even got their own WeWork bandanas and office p**p bags — officially part of the team now! 😂
When Kingsley takes Fufu to work and Egusi stays with me, people always ask where the other one is. They’ve already made a name for themselves in the office! 💻🐾

Saturday well spent at MAM Park in Glória!
Perfect 24°C weather and the boys had a blast running around, playing, and exploring every corner. 🐾🌿

Egusi has been working hard on his impulse control and fear barking — and the progress has been amazing (and super fast too)! Proud of my little guy. 💪🐶
Fufu, as always, led the way with calm confidence. 🐕✨

I’ve gotta say… I definitely prefer winter in Rio over any other season 😄☀️
Not long now until we start our journey back to Europe! 🇪🇺✈️

✨ First step to bed/place training with Egusi! ✨
He’s starting to understand where his chill zone is — one paw at a time 🐾🛏️
This training is key for helping him relax when we’re having meals or visitors over.

We’re taking it slow and steady, always with lots of praise and good vibes 💛
So proud of this little guy!

✈️🐶 Traveling with Dogs – Bag Training Tips! 🐶✈️

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a quick video of both my dogs getting into their travel bags 💼💤

My oldest is 5 now and super used to traveling—short trips, long hauls, you name it. His bag has always been a safe, familiar space. At home, we use it for naps, time-outs, vet visits, buses, metro rides—you get the idea. It’s not just for flights!

Our youngest is a rescue and only around 10 months old now. We’ve been working on bag training for about 3 months, and honestly, he came with a lot of fear around anything that looked like a cage. So seeing him now walk into his bag on his own is a HUGE win for us 💛 It’s taken time, patience, and lots of positive reinforcement, but we’ve come such a long way.

We’re heading to Europe in 2 months, and both of our bags are airline-approved (TAP approved too, for those flying with them). Our upcoming trip includes a 15-hour flight plus a 4-hour layover, so calm and comfort are key—for them and us!

🧡 If anyone here is struggling with getting their dog used to the bag or unsure how to even start, I’d be so happy to help. I can post a detailed video showing how we trained them from day one to love their bags—to the point they now walk in just to relax.

Just let me know if you'd be interested—I’d love to support anyone going through the same process ❤️
