🐈‍⬛MICROCHIPPING🐈‍⬛

As of June 10th 2024 it will become compulsory to have all cats in England microchipped. If you have a young kitten, they must have a microchip by the time they’re 20 weeks old.

If your cat is not microchipped, please contact the practice to arrange an appointment with one of our nurses to have it implanted and registered💉.
If you think your cat may already have a microchip but would like to double check, this can also be carried out by one of our team.

For those who are on our health plan scheme, microchipping is free of charge. For clients who are not, the fee for this service is currently £16.50.

If you require any further information, please call the surgery🐾

Animal Care Assistant position available

We are looking for a friendly and professional individual to join our team of Nurses and Animal Care Assistants. Having someone who truly cares about animals is a must and the ideal candidate would have some previous experience of working with animals.

We have three sites across West Berkshire, in Tutts Clump, Pangbourne and Spencers Wood. Our nurses work a variety of shift patterns across a 37.5hr working week, which includes 1:4 Saturday mornings on a shared rota. No overnight duties are required as our OOH provision is covered by Vets Now.

The successful candidate will need to be confident and have excellent interpersonal skills. We also need someone who can stay calm and focused in a busy veterinary environment.

The main tasks of the role include:
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene
• Receptionist work including telephone answering
• Patient handing and restraint
• Inpatient care
• Assisting in theatre
• Running diagnostic tests on in house lab machines
• Admitting and discharging patients

Due to our rural location, it is essential you hold a full driving licence and have your own transport.

Our friendly team is looking to recruit an additional small animal veterinary surgeon for our independent 3 site practice in West Berkshire. Our main branch at Tutts Clump is ideally situated between Reading and Newbury in a beautiful rural area, with branch surgeries in Pangbourne and Spencers Wood.

Our days generally consist of both consulting and operating, with a good mix of surgical and medical caseload. We have all the usual diagnostic toys that you would expect including digital x-ray, new ultrasound machines and endoscopy. We have an equally shared Saturday morning rota, with Vets Now covering our overnight and remaining weekend out of hours.

We are keen to support new graduates and have experience in this. Likewise, we would absolutely love to welcome another experienced team member and are happy to facilitate development of your interests. We would happily support you in completing a certificate if desired and there is also potential to take charge of and develop one of our branch surgeries. CPD allowance is generous – if it's going to be of benefit to the practice then we'll generally pay for it!

Our new standard is typically a 4.5 day working week but our rota is flexible so can be discussed to suit your requirements. Usual benefits apply – paid RCVS, BSAVA etc memberships, private health insurance. Salary commensurate with experience: c33-50k but we are always open to discussion.

Please see our website www.valleyvet.co.uk for more information about the practice and email CV/covering letter to [email protected]

****Suspected case of Alabama Rot****

As some of you may be aware we have unfortunately seen a suspected case of Alabama Rot (CRGV) earlier this week. The dog involved is from the Stanford Dingley area. Tests are being run to confirm diagnosis.

For more information on this disease please see https://www.alabama-rot.co.uk

We would recommend that dog owners are washing paws after muddy walks and please be vigilant about checking your dogs feet and mouth for any small wounds or ulcerations.

Any concerns please contact us on 0118 9744352.

CRGV, known as Alabama Rot, is a rare but fatal disease affecting dogs. Anderson Moores are Alabama Rot veterinary specialists. Find out more.
