Terms and Conditions
Appointments/General
The appointment time and date provided are set for the start of your dog’s grooming session. Please allow 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time for arrival and handover. If you arrive too early, you may be asked to wait briefly to ensure the 1-on-1 policy is maintained. The 1-on-1 policy ensures that there is only one dog in the salon for the allotted time slot given, unless there is multiple dogs from the same household. This prevents unwanted behaviours, safety of the groomer and dedicated attention to the dog/s and due to the space provided in the salon. During the appointment, your dog will be groomed to the best of my ability, ensuring a thorough job. Once you receive your 'all done' text or phone call, please collect your dog promptly. Failure to collect within the stated collection time may result in additional care fees due to the disregard of the 1-on-1 policy.
Occasionally, appointments may run early if a dog is finished ahead of schedule or if a dog does not show up. In such cases, customers with appointments later in the day may be contacted to come in earlier. Payments for any work done at Paddy Paws Dog Grooming are due at the time of collection, either via cash or card. Cheques, bank transfers, or other monetary transactions are not accepted. Data protection practices are followed to a high standard, and data will not be reused without prior permission. Offensive or abusive communication will not be tolerated; Paddy Paws reserves the right to ban individuals from the business and property.
Paddy Paws Dog Grooming salon is situated within my family home.(attached to my home, where I and my family live.) Please respect my property and clean up after your dog on the front lawn. Any damage to the property, either interior or exterior, caused by visitors to Paddy Paws Dog Grooming will be repaired or replaced promptly at the responsible party’s expense.
Matted Dogs
A 15-minute period will be allowed for detangling any matted areas. This will only be done based on the dog’s tolerance to mat removal. If the severity of the matting will take longer than the 15 minutes or if the dog has a low tolerance, an entire clip-off will be required, which will incur a de-matting surcharge of £10-£20, depending on breed/size, and will be automatically applied. Fair warning will be provided.
Nails
Nail appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance and will be charged at £10 per dog for nails, ear cleaning, and spritz or £5 for just nails. Full grooming/wash appointments include nail trimming in the price; however, it will only be completed or attempted if the dog allows. On occasion, only a small amount of nail may be trimmed due to the nail quick's length. If the quick is cut during trimming, it may bleed and cause pain. I have measures in place to prevent further bleeding. Most nails stop bleeding quickly, and no additional action is required.
Cancellations/No Shows
Cancelled appointments are acceptable if at least 48 hours’ notice is provided with a reasonable explanation. Cancellations within 48 hours may result in lost earnings due to insufficient time to fill the appointment slot. In this case, I operate a "3 strikes, you're out" policy.
• The first cancellation may be rescheduled at a time that suits both parties.
• The second cancellation will result in a 50% cancellation fee, based on the grooming price, due to lost earnings.
• The third cancellation will require a 50% deposit upon booking, with the full price of the groom due at the time of completion.
• Any further cancellations will not be rescheduled.
If you fail to cancel within the allotted time, do not show up for your appointment, or arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, you may be turned away due to the time required between appointments. In such cases, the "3 strikes, you're out" policy will also apply.
Behavioural Issues
Working with dogs may sometimes mean working with those that are unpredictable, uncooperative, or show signs of aggression. I will always do my best to provide a safe environment, but tools used in grooming are extremely sharp and regularly sharpened to an expert level. Cuts, slices, or chunks may occur if the dog proves difficult to handle. In such cases, if a medical intervention is required, Paddy Paws Dog Grooming will cover the cost of treatment at a veterinary clinic with an invoice provided . If an injury occurs requiring veterinary treatment, there will be no charge for the grooming.
If the groom cannot be completed due to poor behaviour, payment will still be required, and a referral to a grooming behaviour consultant will be provided. As the salon is run from a home environment, my own personal dogs may bark when customers enter. They quiet down quickly, but this may be relevant for reactive dogs.
Fleas and Other Transmittable
If a dog arrives with fleas or any other transmittable conditions, an additional charge will apply. Flea treatment is £15 per dog due to the extra work and products needed to prevent the fleas from spreading. Ticks will be removed free of charge. I am happy to accommodate dogs with prescription shampoos or those recommended by a vet. The cost of the grooming will remain the same if you provide your own products.
Any allergies, sensitivities, or skin issues should be disclosed at the earliest convenience and are to be noted on the booking. If an appointment needs to be cancelled and rearranged due to illness, ailment, or transmittable conditions, please provide notice as soon as possible. Cancellations and rebooks are subject to the cancellation/no-show policy above.
Equipment/Staff Issues
On the rare occasion that there is no available groomer due to sickness, emergencies, or equipment failure, as much notice as possible will be given, and an alternative appointment will be offered.
All products used in the salon are specifically designed for dogs with the correct chemical balance and pH levels. However, some dogs may have sensitivities to these products without prior knowledge, leading to a reaction. If this occurs, please inform Paddy Paws Dog Grooming, and if veterinary intervention is needed, a note will be made on the booking to avoid using these products in the future.
Teeth Cleaning
The Emmi Pet Sonic toothbrush is a complementary dental care system that provides a non-medical procedure. Teeth cleaning is performed using sonic pulses emitted through the bristles. Paddy Paws Dog Grooming reserves the right to accept or refer dogs based on their individual needs and the current condition of their teeth. There are guidelines provided by Emmi Pet to determine whether the tooth/gum condition is suitable for cleaning. If the teeth/gums are not acceptable, the dog will be referred for veterinary attention before any grooming can proceed.
Please note that staff at Paddy Paws Dog Grooming are not medically trained and cannot offer any medicinal advice regarding tooth and gum health.
Car Parking
Paddy Paws Dog Grooming is located in the centre of a residential area. Please ensure neighbouring driveways and public rights of way remain clear at all times. Always park responsibly when dropping off and collecting your dogs to ensure the safety of all individuals. Troutbeck Road is a main public transport route, so please take care.
Paddy Paws Dog Grooming is not liable for any loss or damage to your vehicle, dog, property or person while dropping off or collecting your dog.
