Working on stay training is a regular thing with the pack, and where I can I do individual stay training, why???? Because a solid stay can be a matter of safety..... working in different environments and increasing the dogs level of education, is important to keep making small improvements at the dogs individual pace, aiming for success each time to keep building confidence......

So what do we do when we're not going on adventures? We train, train, train....... working on reactivity issues with archer has helped him so much, advocating for him and accepting his feelings of worry and teaching him to turn around back to me when something is too much for him has helped him tremendously, giving him the reassurance I will protect him has gave him so much confidence when lead walking.....

We also like to do some litter picking along our ways 🙂

Lovely hike up Roseberry topping today, only a small pack but that just means extra cuddles along the way. Far too windy at the top as you can tell their faces says it all, good jobvwe dont have wings 😊

Such a cold week, but we still managed to get out walking and learning, unfortunately it was so cold I didn't dare take off my gloves to take any photos, but here is one to clear us up and remind us spring will be coming soon 😊

What an amazing day, the pack loved walking and playing an the beach, dipping their toes in the surf. Then around town to do some loose leash walking and environment training, creating neutrality around people passing, turning distractions into white noise, well done everyone 👏

Such an amazing first day back at work today, 4 hour walk from Majuba to Saltburn pier, which is only about 6 miles 🤔 and to top it off, environment training using public transport back into redcar, Saltburn cliff railway and the train, each dog tried their absolute best, taking in all the sights, sounds and smells and looking to me for guidance along the way, well done pack xx 😀

After an amazing 2023 we turn the page to 2024.

Christmas and New year were a total wash out as I was so poorly 😢 it's taken me some time to recover and get back on my feet, literally 🙃

So back to work it is as of Monday 8th January 24.

Attention is a byproduct of connection, having a strong connection with your dogs will increase their ability to listen to you when you communicate with them, thus increasing their success, making them feel happier and safer, increasing their confidence and overall quality of life. In short connection is key

The results of hike days speak for themselves, wow it was a good one, but my phone died so I not only couldn't take pictures I also got lost going an hour off track, not to worry.

I have 2 spaces left for this hike...... the pack really enjoy these long hikes roaming together. These are structured hikes with free time running and sniffing and lead walking building communication and listening.

This should be about 4 hrs 30 minutes with some rest stops for drinks which I carry with me,

What a week we had......
From woods to waves 💕 from Highlands to the shoreline
Lovely long walks and hiking over the Morland.
All the dogs had such a fantastic time out in the fresh air and some seeing snow for the first time. Lead walking and roaming as a pack getting their sniffing noses going...

We all know how important it is for our beloved dogs to be seen in the dark, and to have a product that is reliable at a reasonable price is hard to come across..... SO that being said I have worked with a local equestrian company and I have found a product that fits the bill, these have been used by many of the farm dogs and are known to be a high quality product.

I will be placing a bulk order on Monday 27th Nov for anyone who would like one.

These will make yours and our pack walks much safer and will be a life saver on dark evening walks.

My dog is not my child. My dog is not my furbaby.

I am not her mother, I am her trainer. The word trainer is not a bad word, it means leader, supporter,disciplinary.. and friend.

My dog is my friend. She is my partner and my companion. To treat her like a child, to infantilize her and make it seem as though she needs my constant coddling or protection, would be unfair to her.

She is an adult carnivore that I have brought into my human world. Because of that it is my responsibility as her owner:

1) To communicate with her in a way she can understand.

2) To provide leadership, guidance, discipline and mutual respect.

3) To understand her instincts and needs, and provide appropriate outlets for them.

4) To train and educate her and provide her the skills to function effectively in our human world, including acceptable manners and behaviours including the veterinarian.

Our dogs deserve to be given responsibility and allowed to be adult creatures, not perpetual babies.

Please, don't try to make them tiny humans, they aren't and they don't want to be. Dogs are wonderful because they are dogs. Let them be dogs.

Teach them to be good ones.

This week has been a beach week, I'd just had enough of mud lol. Training with sit stays, recalls, loose leash walking, each and every Doggy has done absolutely amazing, so proud of the pack and how far they have come

From pulling my arms off to loose lead walking in only 1 hour, it's not perfect and needs some fine tuning and distraction proofing but it's definitely 100% better, I'm so proud of this boy .
