As a business owner you don’t often think to put a face to your business but as I’ve finding out recently it’s always nice to be able to get to know the person behind it. Or at least have picture in your head when you turn up for an appointment with them! So here goes..

Hi 👋🏻 My name is Abi, I established my own grooming business ‘Grooms By Abi’ in 2020 and have always been passionate about advancing my skills and gaining knowledge through reading and research in the canine psychology sector. This has really helped me in my grooming career by allowing me to effectively communicate and customise my approach for each dog, building trust while prioritising their wellbeing.
 
In January 2023, I began offering Ultrasonic teeth cleaning services, which sparked my interest in canine anatomy and to help understand the reasons behind the high rate of periodontal disease in dogs at such a young age. This led me to pursue a Level 3 diploma in Canine Nutrition, as I believe that nutrition plays a vital role in maintaining the overall health and well-being of dogs just as with us humans!
 
With a decade of experience working with dogs, I have developed a deep understanding of canine behaviour and psychology. This allows me to communicate effectively with your dog, adapting my approach to meet their individual needs and ensuring a gentle and enjoyable experience for them.
 
During my free time, I enjoy travelling around the UK in our campervan with my partner and our two dogs, Louie, a lively Border Collie, and Ruby, a playful Toy Poodle who loves getting dirty in the mud!

Holly owners were recommended a dental under anaesthetic by her vet to remove the plaque on her teeth (why I am not so sure) so she started to look at other options, she contacted me but was still unsure if she would handle the treatment okay. I explained how gentle the process is and once she sent me a picture of her teeth we got her booked in.

👩‍⚕️The only time I would recommend a vet dental is:
1. If periodontal disease is too far gone and there’s loose teeth and receded gums present (which holly had none off, she has lovely healthy gums)
2. If the dog has tried a session and is really not keen on having someone look within their mouth (which I have not had yet! Touch wood 🪵 )
And that’s it!

Please please do your research of the professional who offers this treatment to make sure they know what they are doing, other than that this treatment can quite literally be life changing 😱

Dolly and Axel! Dolly is an older girl who has just had a dental at the vets in the last year, her owners want to keep on top of the plaque build up. Axel is still a young lad and his owners wanted to introduce him to the treatment, his teeth are still in great condition but super important to get them in while young to get them used to it! They both did amazing for their first time. See you both soon guys! 🤎

Sorry but! 🥹🥹 How adorable is little Otto!! He had the personality to match such a lovely boy with a gentle nature, he’s just over 1 so his mum wanted to keep on top of build up and get him used to the process early. Looking forward to him coming back in for his top up! See you soon Otto 🧡
