The Cheshire Cat Pet Sitter

The Cheshire Cat Pet Sitter We are Darren and Kim - The Cheshire Cat pet sitters, a service dedicated to providing the very best care for your cats while you're away from home.

We offer peace of mind by visiting your cat in their own home. Covering Stockport and surrounding areas. We are Darren and Kim. We established The Cheshire Cat Pet sitting Service because we simply love cats! The idea to start our own cat sitting service came after struggling to find the pet sitting service that was right for us within our local area. With over 30 years' experience caring for cats

, all strays with difficult backgrounds, we understand that every cat has different needs and requires different levels of care. We currently have 3 cats - Polly, Milly and Jarvis. All are now senior cats and Polly, who is 18, is currently be treated for hyperthyroidism. Our lives revolve around these three cheeky cats. Darren has previously worked at Animals in Distress animal sanctuary for a number of years, where he gained valuable experience caring for cats of all temperaments, as well as dogs and other small animals. Darren is passionate about the environment and the natural world and he's a keen ornithologist. Kim grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters and goldfish and has, like Darren, had a lifelong love of animals. She was lucky enough to live in Tanzania for three years, where she had the opportunity to see big cats and other large animals in the wild. She's happy now to be settled back in Stockport with three slightly smaller cats!

This is Mushroom and she's a British Shorthair and quite new to The Cheshire cat.

Mushroom is adorable and yet at first she was a little reserved, It wasn't long before she came out of her shell and revealed her true self.

Mushroom is playful and mischievous and likes to chase her biscuits and the occasional treat if we throw them for her. Wand toys and even a simple piece of yarn are all things that she likes to chase. She's also another cat that will sit by the sink in the hope that we might turn on the tap so she can have a drink! Very peculiar indeed.

It's not all about the play for Mushroom. She's just as happy to join us on the sofa and have her belly tickled. It's such a hard life πŸ˜†

We're very much hoping to see you again soon mushroom x

Susie is a Cheshire Cat first timer.

Sometimes you fall in love with a cat instantly and you just want to pop them in your bag and take them home. Little Susie is just one of those cats!!!

Susie is so affectionate and so sweet and loving. Kim and myself visited her together and that gave Susie a difficult decision to make. Who to go to for a tickle?? It's a hard life isn't it πŸ˜„

We visited Susie during a warm period of weather, but she still manged enough energy to follow up us and down the garden. She would always finish the visit in her favourite cool spot and that's when we would leave her in peace to sleep off all the excitement!!

We very much hope to see her again in the future!!

We have returned recently to visit Miyo and Belaya and they're such fun and loving cats.

Belaya (red collar) is obsessed with playing with the laser pen toy and the moment we arrived, she began looking for the mysterious and elusive red dot. This before we'd even had the chance to switch it on!!

Miyo (black collar) is such a cool cat. He'll often just sit and watch his sister play, but the moment we bring out his squid wand toy, the cool exterior melts and off he goes.

Miyo and Belaya are such gentle and affectionate cats and they're always so pleased to see us. We're very much looking forward to seeing them again soon!

We were delighted to be asked to care for Nellie (torti) and Frankie recently, two beautiful Si Devon Rex girls.

Frankie was shy at first, but soon came out to see me - the temptation of ear tickles and play with string was too much! She hid under the bed at the start of the first visit, but came out more and more quickly each sit, until she didn't bother hiding at all!

Nellie was much more cautious. She never hid, but spent a few visits just watching me wherever I went! She too eventually succumbed to some tickles though.

I think you'll agree that these two are stunning! It was a privilege to care for them. 😽😺

Sky and Sergio are Cheshire Cat debutants!!

We jumped in at short notice to care for them recently and we're absolutely delighted with how things went.

Sergio (tabby) is the more confident of the two and yet he was a little shy at first. Fortunately it didn't take him too long to figure things out. Sergio wasn't overly bothered about play, but he's just so affectionate and such good company.

Sky is quite the opposite. Sky is really shy and took a little longer to trust us, but eventually we managed to earn that trust. Even after taking her to the vets to have an abscess drained, which we committed to doing before her family travelled, she forgave us. Sky is playful and a real sweetheart and we're so happy that we had a happy ending.

We're looking forward to seeing them again later in the year

This is Sophie and she's a Cheshire Cat regular.

We first met Sophie last year and for Sophie, it has taken a little while for her adjust to having a sitter. The good news is that Sophie is now more than happy when we visit her. She's still a little shy, but she comes to greet us when we arrive and she's more than happy to play. She mostly like to play with her cotton mouse and various other toys on the stairs.

It's such a delight to see cats like Sophie, slowly but surely adjust to us visiting. It can take one or two visits or it might take several, but eventually we get there. It's important that all of the cats we visit feel safe and happy in their own home. If they're happy, we're happy!

See you again soon Sophie!

We have already introduced you to Manny, but Manny now has a little brother. Please allow me to introduce you to Diego!

Manny is the friendliest and most chilled cat imaginable. Nothing fazes him. Even when his crazy new friend is bouncing around, grabbing his tail and generally being mischievous. He takes it all in his stride.

Now then, Diego. Where to begin!!! Like Manny, Diego is a Ragdoll and is he not the cutest little thing you've ever seen? Diego is high energy and a real handful in the nicest possible way. Every day is a learning curve for him and everything in his life is exciting and new. His boundless energy occasionally tests Manny's patience and he's very lucky to have such a tolerant big brother. That will all change when he settles down and there is no one better to guide him through his early months and years than Manny.

When Diego occasionally tires and needs a break from all the bouncing and chasing, he's the cuddliest little thing. We feel so lucky to have the opportunity to care for him and we can't wait to see him and Manny again soon!

Primrose is a special cat and she holds a Cheshire Cat record.

Primrose someone managed to spend a whole one hour visit on my knee. This has never happened before and may never happen again. I'm not entirely sure she was asleep for the full hour, but she was happy and content.
Primrose has little interest in play. All she wants is human company, her chin to be tickled and a good brush. I think we succeeded in providing all three of these essential requirements.

Primrose always gives us a warm and friendly welcome, and ends each and every sit either curled up in her bed or on the sofa. Peacefully snoring away. We always leave her knowing that she's made the most of her visits.

The newest addition to our Cheshire Cat family (and a new addition to the world), meet Diego, a Ragdoll kitten, and the cutest little guy we've met in long while. 😽 Seriously, I've used the word 'cutie' more this week than is reasonable! We will share more from Diego, and his big brother Manny, soon.

This is Cremona and she's another Cheshire Cat newbie. We were asked at short notice to care for Cremona and fortunately we were able to accommodate her.

Cremona is a special girl. She's so friendly and trusting and such a joy to spend time with. She absolutely loves to be brushed and despite her coat being in perfect condition, she loves it so much so why stop!!

Cremona has such a calm and peaceful nature and being with her is quite therapeutic. She has a playful and mischievous side, but mostly she likes to just sit around on the grass or on the sofa, being brushed and told how beautiful she is.

We're very much hoping to see Cremona in the near future.

This is Truly and we've recently finished our first set of visits with her.

Now Truly, we were led to believe can be somewhat hit and miss new new people in her life, but it seems we were definitely a hit and not a miss!!

It's fair to say that at first Truly wasn't too sure, but it didn't take her long to figure things out. After that, she absolutely loved her time with us and Truly really made the most of her visits. While Truly did enjoy some play, she benefitted most from the company. The biggest dilemma Truly had was who should she go to for a fuss. Myself or Kim?? It's true that we spent many hours sat on the floor with Truly, stroking her ears and chin and tickling her belly.

We believe that every cat is different and has different needs. Sometimes our visits are all about play and stimulation and others are about just chilling. Our visits are tailored to every cat's individual needs.

We're very much looking forward to seeing Truly again in the not too distant future!!

Meet Nancy once again and her new companion Norman 😽

Norman (top left and bottom right) is the new edition to his family and while we have cared for Nancy before on a few occasions, we haven't until recently had the opportunity to meet little Norman.

Norman is every bit as wonderful as he looks. Yes he's mischievous and cheeky, but he's sweet natured and adorable. Watching him hopelessly chase flies and butterflies is a joy to behold. He very much wants to be Nancy's best friend, but his bounce and energy is sometimes a little too much. He doesn't quite understand her boundaries, but he will learn.

Nancy is growing up and she seems so mature now, especially when Norman is leaping around at full pelt!! If she could talk she'd be asking if there is an off switch on Norman!!

We have loved returning to visit Nancy and meeting little Norman.

We'll be seeing them both later in the year!
