The Cheshire Cat Pet Sitter

The Cheshire Cat Pet Sitter We are Darren and Kim - The Cheshire Cat pet sitters, a service dedicated to providing the very best care for your cats while you're away from home.
(2)

We offer peace of mind by visiting your cat in their own home. Covering Stockport and surrounding areas. We are Darren and Kim. We established The Cheshire Cat Pet sitting Service because we simply love cats! The idea to start our own cat sitting service came after struggling to find the pet sitting service that was right for us within our local area. With over 30 years' experience caring for cats

, all strays with difficult backgrounds, we understand that every cat has different needs and requires different levels of care. We currently have 3 cats - Polly, Milly and Jarvis. All are now senior cats and Polly, who is 18, is currently be treated for hyperthyroidism. Our lives revolve around these three cheeky cats. Darren has previously worked at Animals in Distress animal sanctuary for a number of years, where he gained valuable experience caring for cats of all temperaments, as well as dogs and other small animals. Darren is passionate about the environment and the natural world and he's a keen ornithologist. Kim grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters and goldfish and has, like Darren, had a lifelong love of animals. She was lucky enough to live in Tanzania for three years, where she had the opportunity to see big cats and other large animals in the wild. She's happy now to be settled back in Stockport with three slightly smaller cats!

This gorgeous girl is Cookie. We met her for the first time recently and she was a little shy on her first visit, but what a transformation on day two!

Cookie is a real chatterbox and has a lot to say. She's especially vocal when we arrive to see her. The way in which she greets us is a joy to behold!!

She loves to play and she really loves her laser pen and playing in her cat tunnel.

Cookie is beautiful and such a sweetie. We look forward to seeing her again soon πŸ₯°

Please say hello to Cleo!!

We have had the ultimate pleasure of caring for Cleo recently and what a joyous experience it was. Having a sitter was a new experience for Cleo and she took a couple of days to adapt. She was a little shy at first, but time and patience paid off and before long she was greeting us at the door and rolling around with joy!!

It was wonderful to see Cleo adapt to her new situation and she really enjoyed her visits.

We love Cleo and we can't wait to see her again soon πŸ₯°

We have recently returned to care for Lucia and Kitts. They were both so sweet and they hadn't forgotten us at all.

Lucia is affectionate and kind, but she did effectively mug me for a few dreamies!!

Kitts is inquisitive and keeps an eye on us at all times. She doesn't miss a trick and has moments of madness that are just hilarious.

They are such fun to sit for and there is never a dull moment.

See you again soon girls πŸ₯°πŸ˜½πŸˆ

This little cutie is our Milly.

In 2012, shortly after I'd experienced a loss from my feline family, I was contacted about a small black cat living in a shed that was being savaged by other cats in the area, and the person who found Milly wasn't sure she could survive the onslaught.

I was tender at the time, but I felt I could help and to cut a long story short, Milly was moved into temporary accommodation for a week and during that week she was spayed. She then moved in with me and I still remember sleeping on the floor in the spare room for a few days to comfort her as she adjusted to her new home and her new life.

It's a story with a happy ending. She finally found her forever home! πŸ₯°πŸˆπŸ₯°

Please say hello to our precious little Polly 😽😽

I rescued Polly 19 years ago as a wee little thing and she's been with me ever since.

Polly has hyperthyroidism for which she is medicated twice a day in the form of a tablet, but other than that she is healthy and well and if truth be known, a bloody pest!! πŸ€ͺ

Polly wakes her mum every morning at 3am, on the dot for food and will bite and pull her mum's hair if she refuses to comply. Polly is an addict. A knee addict and will be sat on your knee before your bum hits the sofa.

Even at 19 years old, Polly is still a kitten at heart and we love her so much. She's special x

This is Kirito

This was our first sit with this handsome guy. He was shy at first, but soon overcame that and we became really good friends over the two weeks that his dad was on holiday.

He's a real character and lots of fun and we're really going to miss. We will however see him again later in the year πŸ₯°πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜½

Our boy Jarvis (Mr Jibs, Jibbles) is all happy again after his vet trip earlier this week.

He's so forgiving and he loves his bean bag.

His sisters are jealous of all the attention he's getting and so I will soon be introducing everyone to Polly (Pest Pants) and Milly (Moomin) with a feature on them both 😽

This gorgeous girl is Luna and it's the second time that we've had the opportunity to care for her.

Luna has skin allergies and she has medication for her condition and one day she'll overcome this, but for now she wears her donut to prevent her from biting the affected areas. It doesn't hold her back and she has such a lust for life and she really is a cat that we have fallen head over paws in love with.

We love you Luna xx

This is our boy Jarvis

Jarvis found me 10 years ago when I lived near Wigan. He was homeless and unloved, but that changed the moment he walked into my life.

He's the sweetest and most loving cat and yet he's had a such a difficult year with his health.

He survived a cancer scare earlier this year and had to have a full heart scan at the hospital before he had his operation due to his heart murmur. He was successfully operated on and given the all clear.
A week ago we noticed he had one pupil significantly larger than the other. A condition known as glaucoma which requires urgent medical attention. It's a condition that is quite rare in cats. The vet came that very day and recommended we see a vet with the specialist equipment to test the pressure in his eye. After being tested it revealed that the pressure behind his right eye was extremely high and likely causing him to feel pain.

We have just arrived home after seeing the vet again to test how his eye had reacted to the eyedrops we were giving him 3 times a day and he has responded really well. The pressure in a healthy eye will fall between 12 and 20 on the scale and last week his readings were in the mid 30's. Today his scores were skirting around 20 and so we're on the right track. He returns in a month to test the pressure behind his eye and it may just be that we can save his eye. There is very little vision in his poorly eye, but above anything we just want to avoid him being operated on again.

Jarvis has been a first class patient and forgave us instantly. He knows how much we love him xx

Double trouble, but double the fun!!

Tammy and Tiger are sisters and we had a hunch that caring for these two girls would be fun and we were not wrong. There was never a dull moment. They wouldn't allow it and yet despite the chaos and fun, there were tender moments. What a joy!!

We don't just care for cats here at The Cheshire Cat Pet Sitters! Meet Spikey Mikey, a stunning Bearded Dragon, which I was thrilled to look after last week. He may not be as cuddly or as playful as a cat, but he's a fascinating reptile and I could watch him for hours. Anyone who has been in our house will have seen the geckos and chameleons on our walls and shelves. We love lizards! So this was a fantastic opportunity to spend time with Mikey and learn more about the lizard family. 🦎πŸ₯°

We have recently had the opportunity to care for super Gin again and she has really grown in confidence. She greets us with such enthusiasm!!

The funny thing about Gin is seeing evidence of the crazy things we suspect she gets up to while we're not there. Her toys are always strewn across the floor and we suspect that she's either having raucous cat parties or she shares her flat with a poltergeist.

She really is a pleasure to care for and we look forward to seeing her again soon.

Our boy Jarvis is usually very territorial and is not happy when other cats encroach on his patch. We've therefore been pleased to watch him make friends with his new next door neighbour, Aria. Here he is showing her how to play with his favourite toy. 😍 😻

While Darren was looking after the Silky Quartet (see previous post!), I was lucky enough to be caring for another household of four cuties! Little kitties Pixie, Sooty and Channel, and their big brother, Maine C**n Toby. Lots of cuddles and play were had with the three youngsters, while Toby lived up to his mini-lion looks by savaging a bag of Dreamies! I can't wait to see you all again. 🦁 🐈 🐈 🐈 😻

Allow me to introduce you to Humbug, Ziggy, Dora and Leia, aka The Silky Quartet!!

Ziggy (white/black) understood from day one that I was not her sitter, but her butler.
Humbug (black with white whiskers) soon cottoned on to this arrangement.
Leia (lay on the bed) is nothing short of crazy, yet adorable in equal measure.
Dora (sat in the kitchen) was shy at first, but soon learned to trust me. I think introducing the cat milk helped.

I must say that sitting for these four beauties was such a pleasure. There is no better feeling than winning the trust of a cat and The Silky Quartet left their paw prints on my heart x

Stick to the moors and stay off the roads....

This is Luna and I recently had the ultimate pleasure of caring for her for 5 days for friends in Haworth, West Yorkshire.

Walking across the moors every day with Luna at my side was a joyous experience. Waking every day with her hogging the bed and duvet wasn't always ideal, but of course I didn't mind.

For 5 days she was my constant companion. Whether eating breakfast in a local cafe or having a beer at the pub, she was always by my side.

Until we meet again sweet girl x

We were able to spend time with the beautiful Lily again over the last few weeks. She's really grown in confidence and now comes out for strokes and tickles as soon as I arrive. She even curled up on my knee - always a sure way for a cat to get more of our time! 😻🐾

We are honoured to have been able to spend the last two weeks with this adorable ball of fluff! Lavender started off a little shy, hiding away when we first arrived, but before long she was waiting for us when we arrived and ran over for fusses and tickles. She's a really affectionate, beautiful and fun little girl. We're going to miss you Lavender. See you again soon! 😻😽😸

We recently visited the beautiful city of York. The city has such a rich history, but besides its fascinating and often gruesome past, York is known for it's cats and cat sculptures that are scattered around the city like Easter eggs. We found them all and we'll test your cats eyes soon with a feline puzzle.

We also visited The Cat Gallery and if you haven't been already then you should. It's a must do activity for any cats' lover. If you can't visit any time soon, you can also visit their online shop https://thecatgallery.co.uk/
